I think it’s really about Art as a villain. He got the elements that make him iconic and hard to forget very quickly, both in looks and behavior. He’s a staple.

Terrifier 3 was fantastic! I really liked your analysis in this video. Art has so much personality, and I agree that it is nice to be able to go into a movie theatre and watch a movie like Terrifier. It’s not for everyone, and that’s why not everyone will go to see it, but it is very nice to have it available for those who do like it. I think Art is full of character, his gestures are very expressive and add so much to the movies that just the shock value alone wouldn’t. Terrifier is good because his character is well developed. It makes the audience feel two opposite emotions at once: horror while laughing. You can’t help but have your jaw dropped at what’s being shown, but also laughing at it because it’s both shocking and funny with how Art is portrayed.

I recently finally watched Terrifier and Terrifier 2 and I am NOT a gore hound. I don't enjoy "torture p0rn." What I personally like about the Terrifier movies is Art. While he is terrifying, he's also somehow fvcking hilarious at the same time. David Howard Thorton is such a good actor. He's a great mime. My favorite scene out of both movies was the laundromat scene. I love every odd slightly awkward moment where Art is staring at people or giving a goofy wave. I also appreciate the makeup and practical effects. It's why John Carpenter's The Thing and the original Hellraiser are some of my favorite movies.

Yes! You can definitely be a fan of the series without being a gore hound. That was mostly a generalization about one aspect of its (seemingly) overnight popularity. But I get it. I personally like the gore as well as Art

I love ALL of Art's on-screen exploits. As a teenager in the 80's, I cut my teeth on the grisly works of Fulci, Deodato, Argento, Lenzi, D'Mato and the like..(Yes, I know those are all Italian directors, but they put out a lot of really gnarly stuff and they're the one's that popped into my head at the moment). I'm a gorehound through and through, and I have mad respect for Damien Leone. He is unflinching and uncompromising when delivering the goods. He knows his target audience and he knows what we want and he gives it to us in abundance, all the while, flippin' a big "Eff You" to the MPAA. I remember when Eli Roth came onto the horror movie scene, and how people were all talking about how gory his movies were. I watched them and was unimpressed and disappointed. Sure, there is gore to be found in his flicks, but I've always felt he holds back. That he doesn't want to push it too far, like he wants that R-rating, and is more than happy to not push the boundaries, where Leone says "To hell with those boundaries!" and puts out what fans like me want.. no regrets.. no apologies.

Slight spoilers ahead for T3: I mainly appreciate that they take advantage of Art being a clown. Sure he’s a brutal killer who takes joy in what he does, but I love how they aren’t afraid to make him super goofy either. That scene in T3 where he meets Santa genuinely brought a smile to my face even though I knew he was going to kill him. It was just so cute and funny. It also makes for some awesome interactions irl. I’ve seen clips fo Arts actor, David Howard Thorton, attending cons and other places dressed as Art and acting like him (apart from the brutal murder ofc) and it’s just so fun to watch him interacting with people and sort of doing a “What if he was just a creepy looking yet silly clown”

The fire effects are impressive, but the Terrifier movies would be middling, at best, without David Howard Thornton's performance. He's fun to watch. Looking at him having a great time makes you feel like YOU are having a great time, and that's especially unnerving considering what Art is having a great time doing.

Really well thought out video. I’m a fan of slashers but I do not like these movies. Not because of the gore but because the plot in each is so paper thin and the lore just feels slapped together. So as someone that’s been somewhat baffled by the popularity it’s nice to hear an explanation from someone else other than just “the gory kills are cool.”

I love the Terrifier movies based purely on Damien Leone's love for horror. Yes, Lauren Lavera was a HUGE crush even prior to T2, but even she doesn't match up to this New Yahker's love for horror and indie cinema. Art the Clown is such an amazing character but it is the combination of him, the lore, and a truly interesting, 3D protagonist in Sienna that seals the deal with these films. I don't care what anyone says, Terrifier 2 and 3 in particular cement this series as far more interesting that Nightmare on Elm St, Halloween, or Friday the 13th. The Halloween series and Laurie Strode in particular or sooooo overrated. Bring on Terrifier 4!

Because Damien Leone isn't afraid to go where most directors wouldn't. Terrifier 3 opens with Art killing a family, including a kid. How many major studio movies have the balls to kill off a kid?

seems like theres a saturation point in trying to can he "top that " some of the most creepy stuff is in earlier films his clean look interactions with the general public as the viewer had not yet known his devious capabilties and motives nor what the pillow case held !!!

I haven't watched any of these films. I am not going to. To me, the idea that people get enjoyment out of watching people get tortured is really strange and sort of concerning to me. I am however intrigued with Art. He's just such an interesting... Thing.

I totally get it. It's def not for everyone. Art (as a medium, not like the clown lol) is kind of weird sometimes and people may not understand it. So it might feel concerning. But I think everyone who likes it is probably ok. haha

Yer channel what's suggested by my feed just cos I'm terrified and I watched a lot of reviews and many people have tried to describe Terrifier: Art the Clown And so have I, imagine to my surprise that yer review expressed how I feel about this subject and the fact that you also mentioned Pinhead in almost the same vein as I have, a major, major plus which really impressed me and shows that you get it, and yer the only one so far except for me in my discussion with friends is Jester, you even showed a photo of him cos what a very underrated movie and creation in the same cloth as Art, that movie , the Jester is also out of control and his how attitude and also the fact that he did not speak and his supernatural element and presence was very similar but nothing like the gore and the nature of Art's kills, I like how you understood how he did what he did cos he just did, tho I feel he's been guided to do what he does by the pale little white girl and also possibly the demonic cult from the original nine Gates of hell what is more to the story that I hope will be explained in Terrifier 3 also the fact that the director has free reign and he doesn't have the curtail anything Art the clown fans know exactly what they're getting and what is to be expected as I've been saying to everybody forget Jason Freddy or Michael what is the man king of all slasher Gore films just like John wick elevated all action movies Art the Clown has elevated everything to a whole new universe just like you Heath ledger's Joker Art what is with Gore and horror movies have been missing and waiting for and the fact that from starting as a simple slasher film choose supernatural element in Terrifier 2 and I'm waiting to see if this week too I subscribe to your channel and look forward to reading the rest of your reviews , Thanks

Thanks for posting this. So happy we're on the same page because I didn't know how people were going to take my comparison! It's interesting that you mention the nine gates of hell. It makes sense that he is just some sort of demon. The little girl clearly plays a major role in his existence. Some said Art was alive before and in the second one he is dead, but has been revived as a demonic entity. Art is on the next level and I'm excited to see where the franchise goes from here.

because it is primitive és exploitation 'style', main character is childish idiot, who can't talk but laughs at the suffering of others (like a 'troll' on the net).. the crowd likes it they easily identify with him, this is the 'zeitgeist' ... btw it's just a mediocre splatter, overrated because there is no other slasher.. hollywood is dying

Actually it's not. Some crew members colloquially called him "Pinhead" and Clive Barker hated the nickname. He's the lead Cenobite or the hellpriest. If you were a true Hellraiser fan and not some dim-witted misogynist, you'd know that.
