Art2Life.com - Louise Fletcher is an artist and teacher, gifted at helping her students connect with their emotions and unleash their artistic voice. But she wasn’t always aware of her gift.
She genuinely thought she had no artistic talent because she couldn’t sit in front of a canvas and execute a vision. When she learned that she could play with paint, and find joy in the process, it changed everything.
In this heartfelt conversation, we uncover the depths of finding one’s self-worth and embrace the concept that we must express every emotion in our art and life.

LOVE the format! Took me back to those fun days in the free CVP week! I set you two lovelies on my art table and started playing with paint and things just exploded! I was doing intuitive play at my gelli plate and ended up with more stuff than my floor could hold 😂 I may have to just keep replaying this one indefinitely… the vibes were SO good. Love you both! This was wonderful!! I love this format of talking together and painting in your sketchbooks at the same time. I loved watching what you did, how both of you kept adding more paint and more layers and more color. It all ended up illustrating beautifully how art is indeed a way to connect with ourselves! I’m excited to go paint some more now. Thank you!

This is a very powerful program, so thoughtful and meaningful. Thanks for sharing such personal ways of thinking about art and life. During my working years, (I'm 83 now) I was a founder and the coordinator of a fabulous program in University Hospitals and Clinics, Columbia, Missouri, in which we presented changing art throughout the hospital for the pleasure of patients, staff and administration. It included a performance art program once every week in our beautiful main lobby, which featured a permanent bronze sculpture by artist, Larry Young. And, we featured art by staff once a year. We called the program ART FOR LIFE. It lived up to its name every day. ❤❤❤❤❤

I’m a teacher of The Zentangle Process and I found it through a kind of “download” and just in time because my anxiety-ridden teenaged granddaughter needed help during Covid and I was able to do ZOOM classes for her and her friends every week for almost two years when the schools were not able to offer any kind of art instruction… it helped me become a teacher and it helped others who needed focus during the pandemic… and now, I can call myself an artist AND a teacher because I found my way with patterns. Now I use both in watercolor and quilting just doing what is fun in my 80’s, making marks with color… being me.

I’m in CVP currently and now know what I’ll be doing in September. Thanks so much for this. Additionally, the running reference was very helpful. I’m a slow long distance runner, having completed a very slow full, or half marathon on all 7 continents. Never did I expect to win the race or even my age group but always, did I have fun. I’ll now approach these daily painting exercises with marathon mindset, where every run is a fun training run.

Such a wonderful surprise to come upon this episode this morning. I love you both, and as everyone has said, your generosity and enthusiasm for art has changed so many lives, including mine. I took both of Louise's classes, and because she spoke so highly of you, I'm in my second year of CVP. Watching you paint in your sketchbook is one of my favorite things. it has inspired me to paint everyday in mine, and I've practiced all the principles and lessons in a safe, nonjudgemental space. It's been a game changer. My sketchbook holds more important art and life information than any other book could ever hold. Saying thank you to both of you sounds inadequate...my gratitude overwhelms me.

I've only been painting for a few years but listening to them chat has given me hope! I think it'd be a great idea to have newby artists on your podcasts (I listen to art2life and artjuice) - chatting about the journey to making art - covering the psychology, the practical and finding your style. Just a thought, I'd definitely listen to it and be up for it 🙂
