I think for me I've had my characters for awhile and they have back stories and everything but I never got around to designing them until recently, and for me I think I struggle with finding emotions that only that character has that's representative of who they are. consistency is always my main issue is that I kind of will draw a character how I think they look and they can never draw them like that again but I think I'm doing better. And I really liked your point about discovering your characters rather than just creating them, I never thought about it like that and maybe that is where I need to improve their stories.

Listening to you talk about your characters makes me realize I’ve never been intentional about my designs. In fact, all of them came into existence by accident (I’d scribble and decide the product looked cool enough to ascribe abstract traits to). Now, I wanna write my characters first, define their relationships, and think about what makes them feel like a person. My style has been changing into one that allows for more specific facial features too. These expression videos have shown me a lot⭐️👍

i like drawing from her sketches, how do i get better at faces from imagination like you do?> like how did you in the beginning check your emotions and their proportions? i can almost do faces now from imagination but emotion is too hard since i dont have reference / know how to keep it proportional

It's funny when you said we all love our OCs the same but we have the most child out of them. I have a few OCs but literally there's only 1 that i constantly draw and even his partner appears once every blue moon 😂💀.

When i make characters i would base them off the colors of the rainbow and base them off that specific color. because every color has a meaning to them and a mood. And thats how i start to create and understand my characters.

i will never accept ur apology for rambling! also, when you came up with these characters, did you meditate to uncover them or was it more of picking and choosing references from other media, people, styles, etc? I do a mix of everything, but mostly writing down every little thing about them that i think makes sense and trying to visualize them in my head. You kind of answered my questioned while i typed out the question. i love to hear ur process and how u get fixated on discovering them. Ive always thought my characters another version of me or another personality and try to embody them
