Update: after using this racquet for almost a year, and trying my Head Radicals and even getting a pair of Wilson Blades v7, I can 100% say that I love the Artengo TR990 Pro and am sticking with it. So much so that I bought two more of them. Serves and volleys are an absolute joy with this stick, and you can rip your groundstrokes.

Hey Daniel, i have a question. I think about buying it but it felt too light, even my babolat racket feels heavier,which weighs 270 gr. So I'm concerned about it's powerfulness. Any thoughts on this?
@dandalee
@dandalee 3 жыл бұрын
@@arandomguy7481 You can rest easy, my friend. I played with my friend's Babolat Pure Drive, and I can honestly say that the Artengo is simply better with feel and power. It is 300g (did you try the Pro version?) and didn't feel like a drop-off even after using a borrowed 320g Head Prestige MP the past few weeks. The TR990 Pro is so powerful, you really have to have good topspin on your strokes. But you will find that you're pushing your opponent back with ease.

I buy from decathlon tennis shorts, shoes, balls, overgrips, socks and I am totally happy with all of them. I used many overgrips and artengo ovegrips are the most comfortable for me. The socks are great also. I am playing in the same shorts for about 3 years and they still look like new. So, I see no reason to buy expensive gears from big brands. Thanks for the video.

What does Andrew mean when he says the racquet "compresses"? Flexes? Is he referring to dwell time of the ball on the strings? 70 is a very high RA so I doubt he means flexes. The Belgian player Steve Darcis is now retired due to chronic arm injury. He had a classic game with a very good slice backhand and an Eastern grip topspin forehand. This Otengo frame is currently endorsed by one of the best men's doubles players - Oliver Marach of Austria.

I have tried this racket from a tennis partner, it feels like you said, very much like the Ultra, I was very surprised considering Decathlon is kind of a Walmart for sporting goods, their price are very reasonable vs quality, products do not feel cheap, if you don't mind the brand name as they sold only their own brand. One nice thing about Decathlon is you can actually try a lots of sport equipment in store. Decathlon is a French company, so far since they came to Canada, big success as far as I am concern. I have strung many time at Decathlon as well with my own strings, they charge $15.

Great review. It would be really great if you could do a video to demystify racquet frame stiffness and explain why higher stiffness doesn’t always mean arm pain. I have elbow issues, I can’t use frames above 62RA. I could never use polys either until I switched to the Clash 100, which has solved all my arm problems with that low 55 RA rating. I can even use stiff Luxilons in the Clash. But how come you guys are saying that Artengo at 70RA with a poly feels easy on the arm? Thanks very much, Louis

Im always buying from Decathlon, their brands such as artengo, we'dge, quechua, etc, are very good for the price. They wont beat any of the brands but will deliver great quality and performance for half a price of other brands. If you look for cheaper options and good quality on new items, Decathlon is great. Me, I would rather get a second hand yonex for the price of a new Artengo, but not a second hand babolat as im pretty sure they have same quality control, both french companies, both made in china.

Andrew called it a knockoff version of the pro staff. Not bad for a 100 dollar racquet. To make a 70 RA feel easy on the arm is very good accomplishment. It is a swingers racquet😊. They should make a 93 or a 95 sq in stick.

@@dandalee The racquet is stiff but very comfortable and very powerful. The manufacturer's string job is playable. I was very positively impressed! The frame produced excellent topspin and flat shots but underspin was lacking. I loved the slight feel of wood in the frame; there was almost no vibration at all and that's without a string dampener. I wish the string pattern was slightly more dense for better control. I could really rip my forehand! On serves, it was best on flat serves as spin was not its strong point unless I took pace off the ball.

Which is the better one? You mentioned the TR960 as the best racket under $100. I can pick up either, and hence wanted to know which is the better one. I'm also contemplating the TR900. Or should i go for something like a Head Microgel Radical MP? I currently use a TR160 which is my first ever racket, but as it doesn't have too much power, i believe need an upgrade. Was looking at the racquets last year and there was some mention of a technology in their sticks that had the same name as one used by Technifibre - typically, I can' find it now but wondered if there was some sort of tie-up between these two French companies. I imagine a lot of their stuff comes out of the same manufacturing facilities in the Far East as the big names. In the UK, they also sell Head, Wilson and Babolat sticks, plus a selection of Nike, Adidas, Asics shoes, plus their own brand. Great shop for bikes and cycling gear on a budget, too.

It is a relatively stiff racquet. It depends on what you like. For arm friendly poly, I would recommend Head Hawk Touch for a nice co poly. I used it last week. It generates great power and spin. For control with stiffer strings, you can go with a RPM blast or luxilon 4G. If you are in the North East with outdoor play, a synthetic gut blend with a multifiber cross may be good for the colder weather. The hybrid is a great option for body friendly hitting and less expensive if you string your own sticks.

Ditch that aero, it's a noob racquet way too powerful and stiff that belongs in the sub 3.0 leagues. Try the PS97L for something with a bit less power and more control or the blade 98L for a bit more control than power. And someday you'll be able to easily move to their heavier counterparts.

You think its good for tournaments at like the college level or something? What level at best?
@ALC-bd1pm
@ALC-bd1pm 4 жыл бұрын
@@starman3533 - It depends on what property of a racquet that you are looking for. My friend enjoys the volley part of the it, and I experience lack of drive when rallying at the baseline, so adding weight (as I have suggested) might help. Since racquet is a very personal choice, go for a demo and see whether the racquet fits your playing style at various level of competition; and you might need to customize a little bit to serve your needs. It is definitely one of the top cost-performance ratio racquet in the market. My 2 cents.

Is it really normal to have 55% graphite and 45% epoxy-resin? I knew that you can never have a 100% graphite frame (despite the marketing), since the multiple layers of graphite are stuck with epoxy, but 45% sounds quite high. I suppose that is the difference between an expensive and cheap frame. A Pro-Staff, Vcore-Pro, Ultra-Tour etc probably have a higher percentage of graphite, compared to this and other frames like 'Team' versions etc. Anyone have an idea of the typical percentages? The dampened suspension feeling you mentioned sounds exactly like a Dunlop CV3.0 I demoed recently. Supposed to be a stiff frame, but good hits have a weird cushion-effect in the hoop. Very powerful, but too artificial for me. I wonder if it's large amounts of epoxy giving that feeling.
@racketman2u
@racketman2u 3 жыл бұрын
Up to a point, it's all just marketing; all the fancy materials just allow a very stiff but very light racket, and that is not a recipe for a top racket, the best build in some flex to give you feel and control. The corollary of that is that a well designed racket isn't necessarily the most expensive in materials.

I play with Babolat PD but Decatlon has many products with great bang for the bucks. Decatlon took many little and medium sport shops out business here in Spain. Their strenghs are their own brands and quality ranges ( basic/intermediate/advanced) in every product. Always at the best prices.

I have the feeling that this review slightly lacks objectivity. I guess it's unconscious. I agree that DKT brands don't have the same glamour level as historical brands: I rode a high end DKT bicycle at the time they were sponsoring two professional Tour de France teams, and it was awesome - but people kept looking down on me during races. But DKT know what they are doing: they invest a lot in innovation, research and development. And the fact that pros (among others Monfils and Kasatkina) use Artengo rackets proves that the products are as good as the other rackets out there. Völkl, Pacific (ex-Fischer), Dunlop, Pro Kennex, even Prince sell for higher prices and don't offer better products. Even Tecnifibre: when they came back to the racket business (they were already selling under the name Major end of the 80s), they could rely on their good name earned in the string business. If it hadn't been for that, gaining foot on the racket market would've been more difficult and accompanied by scepticism.

OMG AGAIN!!! It’s Uni Qlo NOT Uni Glo Wikipedia....“In May 1984, it opened a unisex casual wear store in Fukuro-machi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima, under the name "Unique Clothing Warehouse".[5] Initially, the brand was going to be registered as a shortened contraction of "unique clothing".[6] However, in 1988, during administration work in Hong Kong for registering the brand, staff in charge of registration misread the "C" as "Q", and that is how the brand name was born.[7] Tadashi Yanai then changed the store name to "uniqlo" across Japan.”

Please review Artengo balls. There is one Decathlon store across street and I usually grab their balls to play. Some of my friends complain about them.
