White boy from Ohio (1987) and was blessed enough to live in a mixed family. I have 5 little brothers. We share the same American mother but father left when I was 2. My step dad growing up was Mexican. (Fun fact, Rodolfo is the only man I’ve called Dad. 3 of my brothers are his son and of course we share the same mother. Rodolfo was my Superman. He never obtained citizenship but he lived and worked and raised another man’s kids in this country for 30+ years. I ask you. What’s more American than working hard and raising a family?? God bless rodolfo and the Mexican community. The hardest working folks on gods green earth. Not to mention their phenomenal music!!! This was always on the radio growing up. Edit: This comment didn’t get a ton of likes. I wasn’t trying to chase likes. Music is a blessed thing man has created and it has the ability to take you places and unlock memories. Seeing this video sent me down memory lane and I just started typing what I felt after watching the video. So yea, it got mushy and didn’t go viral but I was just happy to tell his story. I’m immensely proud of him and I’m so grateful for the inspiring comments everyone has left me. It’s been 2yrs since I posted that comment and I still hear back. I means a lot. Love you all ❤️

Rey C - For the Cumbias you can thank the Colombians. Cumbias weren’t even originally played with accordions, it was the influence of Vallenato that brought the accordions to Cumbia. Of course Colombia also got the accordions from Germany, but the Germans didn’t teach Colombians how to use them like how they taught the Mexicans/Texans, Colombians made their very own style with them.

@Izakokomarixyz eh either way its influence most if not all are influenced or inspired by other cultures its how the world works and yes even Colombians from what ive read were influenced by other Europeans. Its amazinf when cultures meet and new cultures arise. Meixcan and colombian music is so different from polka or other music from here in europe its amazing they were ever influenced by each other to begin with

I'm German/Polish and my dad played accordion professionally. (He also tried giving me lessons, which didn't work out too well... lol) He played gigs up into his 80's but finally his full size accordion (41 keys on the right hand and 120 buttons on the left hand) got too heavy. We tried to get him to switch to a "button box" like these gentlemen are playing but... old dogs, new tricks. I love polkas, but being in California they are few and far between, but mariachi accordion music is a great substitute. btw, Flaco has played with the Mavericks a lot, check it out.

😘🤗💞🥰 Makes me happy 😊. WOW!!! Not Mexicana but was born and raised in LAREDO TEXAS. Learned to love this music as a child and can appreciate it today. My husband is Mexican and Gringo, but raised mostly Mexicano. ( Santo Nino area). He tells me I'm honorary Mexican.😊. Makes me proud. We've been together 63 years, married 58 years. I'll take 63 years more, 🙏 BE SAFE AND AS HAPPY AS I AM GOOD PEOPLE. 🥰💞🤗😘

Hola, is amazing how you can have such an amazing and beautiful performances and coordination, old school accordion style....I wrote this because some friend from other countries in latin america, compare the accordion from mexico with colombia and other nations.....what I can say... as I used to live in europe a few years...I mean my point of view... is that this is the the most close of the german style...we did not change drastic ....and even we use this style in the north of mexico we aklso use the newest colombian and other style ...I just wanna say that if a colombian or other try we sure can play any style because we are used to all of them ...an the other countries ...maybe not

¿Verdad?

Many memories when I lived in Edinburg Texas back in 1975 now reside in California but still have family all over the Rio Grande Valley since we back since 1800’s we have a private cemetery in El Azadon, Texas near La Villa Texas. Miss those days but now it is very different so many families from Mexico nothing bad towards them but it was safer back then we could leave our doors unlocked not anymore. Our legends will be gone before we now it. I have 500 cd’s of all our legends I will leave them to our son.
