Love your videos…your philosophy of finding your “guitar voice” is spot on! So many of us try to play like someone we’re not, when the magic is within us. Keep teaching!!!

Mark, thanks for doing this. Great advice man. I have been playing for 55 years, with no lessons, no tabs, just what I feel and hear. And no one else to jam with . I need to double down on my simple playing. It sounds beautiful when you do it.

Thanks Mark (and Artfrob for filming), very interesting to watch and hear the background to your playing. It certainly doesnt sound like your playing the wrong way and I would quite happily spend the rest of my life playing the wrong way as well if i could put half the feeling and expression into my playing in the same way you do. Looking forward to seeing part 2 and maybe some busking tales from the road?

Bryan May, from Queen, went to see Rory Gallagher shows, wich I have a Rory's Gallagher studio vinil album ( which I have played so many times that, with the wear and tear, it is almost transparent and in such a way that when I play side A of the record I can also hear the track on side B in backwards), and was one of the main guitarists who influenced his way of playing the guitar. I think that you, Mark Allen ( whose name I find very artistic ), give me what I can't do, which is to keep calm while playing and tame that nameless horse that we have inside and wants to gallop through the vast plains of all the strings of the guitar and the scales but it have to be guided in some way by the best path and always calmly so that you don't get tired and try to play everything at the same time. This gift of being able to brake a horse and keep it walking peacefully most of the time so as not to burst its heart with excitement is what corresponds to the silence between notes and letting the notes sound for a few seconds so that one can enjoy their vibrations. For all this, this film, so well put together by artfrob, in which you show how you play, is as important as an old truth that we all know, but the way it is said rejuvenates our memory because it is a new way of saying it. A hug to you both Mark Allen and Roberto Fordham from someone who plays guitar but also never studied the guitar but loves how it sounds.

When i started my first band age12 in 1976,(on bass)my hands didant open,to this day only my left hand opens (thanks to being mad on the beatles) i never had a lesson either, learnt by learning beatle songs (good thing about them is they have many styles and taught us we can write songs about anything) playing bass at least helped me learn the frets ;-) im poof anyone could play and well ,,4 generations of singer song writers alive in my family now, music teachers i got started and national champions too YNWA ..all my life i only had a shergold guitar (amazing thin necks) now i have fender strat and tele deluxe"s,,90"s gibson les pauls ect,, i must say i find fender strats not bassey enough, unless on the neck pic (no dout thats ok within music,so it stands out,,but its odd what we get used to one type like humbuckers)

Hi Mark, your description of re learning how to play an E to free up the pinky for barr chords is exactly how I made any progress with guitar, not only that but it teaches you to bridge the strings properly to play the open string chords anywhere up the neck. If you master that technique thumbover becomes so much easier. Bye the bye at 73 I am still able to give it some wellie, rock on mate.

I love your explanation, it occurs to me Mark, that takes such passion! To learn tonplay yourself and mostly with 3 fingers, youve found your own way, around the correct technique, qualifications - are surely amazing but...... Look at you, the passion - you are unique, your sound is not easy to replicate! You turned the guitar into a markguitar! The reason i get so lost in your musical paradise is because ive found nobody like you, the passion you need to pursue this instrument, the way you have so , shows in your personal sound. You are better then every other guitarist, the way that you can play! Even the best guitarists out there couldn't replicate you! You make your sounds through passion and skill . What im trying to say is - you are a very very unique musician ❤️ and of you was more famous, i think many would try to replicate your style. Your passion ignites something within me! I aspire to be like you. Thanlyou for uploading videos because they are very dreamy , awesome, and full to the rim of soul 🥰
