Haven't hit 100 yet but I've cycled up to 80mpw a few times this year, holding it for three weeks before backing off. Has worked for me pretty well in terms of pushing it to my limit without going past it. Now I'm trying to hold 80 for longer since my body is used it it. Btw, what Lydiard books do you recommend? I've read some of Hanson and Jack Daniels this year - gotta go to the OG though!

@supwell , thanks for the comment! I also have not hit 100 yet, but I am hoping to hit it next summer, we will see. The only book on lydiards training that I have read is “healthy intelligent training”. Other than that , I’ve just read a bunch of articles and write ups online. I’d love to get my hands on “Peter Snell and the Kiwis who flew”, but it’s $$$. I’ve recently been digging into some other high mileage material online. If your interested, I’ll pull it up and paste it in here for ya.

In later books once he realized that when talking to people who weren't elite runners that 100 miles/week was too much. (This after a woman complained that it took her nearly 20 hours/week), so he later modified it to 10 hours/week. When trying to build for it, I still think mainly in miles, but I use that updated rule to figure out how many miles to run.

Hi John, you say Arthur trained people from the mile up. Don't forget he trained Peter Snell who won the Olympic 800m twice and 1500m once (1960/1964). So, as much as I enjoyed your delivery style unfortunately, you lost me at 37 seconds.
