Hi Sammy. I’m 65 years old. I watched the first astronaut launches on TV as a young boy and played astronaut with my sister and friends. I always smile when I see you, almost young enough to be my grandchild, wearing a NASA logo hoodie. I enjoyed this song. Keep them coming.

Sammy! The mysteries of youtube algorithms popped you up last night when I did a search for Arthur McBride. My first acquaintance with Arthur Mc Bride was with Paul Brady’s performance of it some 15 years ago or more. An iconic performance! Persuasive. Completely engaging. Nuanced. I listen to it from time to time over all those years. And now this Arthur McBride from you! Good heavens, Sammy! Your insight into it is utterly original and brilliant. There is something of sweetness that you give it, a light touch of good humor. Devoid of sarcasm, devoid of anger. So uplifting. So refreshing. What accounts for it? I think it simply comes deeply from who you are in heart, spirit, and soul. Your choice of guitar - the soft voice of nylon strings. Your hand - firm yet soft on the strings. Your demeanor of relaxed good cheer. Watching you sing and play such a part of the pleasure.

This has been one of my most favorite songs forever. I stumbled into this today, and I have to say, you played this perfectly. Your voice is clear, and true, and "connected" to the song itself. No show-boating. This is the best version (besides the Paul's himself) that I've ever heard. Well done Sammy ! Amazing that you tackled this song. It's not easy. I heard somewhere that Paul tried to teach Bob Dylan to play it, and Bob gave up. haha. Well done!

I personally believe this is one of the best songs written in human history. My bias for Celtic music aside, I just think it's one of of the most perfectly written, clever, and spirited ballads ever created. That said, It is not an easy one to cover. Standing between 6 and 8 minutes, with so many words, some of them very specific to the period... it's very tough to pull off and make it interesting and accessible to people (which I gather you're pretty aware of considering your sigh at the end😂). This cover was amazing. Your voice is perfectly expressive and controlled and I really thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entire thing. New fan ✌️😇
