Chapter 6 is so depressing, the entire time, everytime you get back to camp, someone new left camp, and it ends with you and John in a standoff against the rest of the gang, realizing the dead ones and the ones who left, would all side with Arthur no questions asked. You spend the entire time thinking ''Damn do i miss goofing around in chapter 2, getting back to camp and everyone being happy like ''Hey Arthur! :D''

I've played the game through twice now. Lost my 1st playthrough save file by accident, and replayed it all again. Now I'm at my 3rd playthrough in chapter 2, just relaxing. I'll stay there until I get bored, then I'll maybe move onto chapter 3 but not much more, I think. I already have 2 save files (same progress, just a backup one) for John, which I play on actively and have fun as John, but when I'm tired of John, I can just go back to good ol' Arthur, with the gang being happy

What makes the standoff scene even sadder is the fact that all of the characters who died (Lenny, Sean, Hosea, and Kieran) would have sided with Arthur. Plus Arthur's side would have slightly outnumbered Dutch's with one side having Arthur, John, Hosea, Lenny, Sean, Kieran, and Mrs.Grimshaw, and the other side having Dutch, Micah, Bill, Javier, Cleet, and Joe. But it's just Arthur and John having to fend for themselves against the Van Der Linde gang that betrayed them 😔

And Charles
@ShaunTripp2 жыл бұрын
Sean might not have sided with Arthur, not that he was a bad person or anything just it’s hard to tell who he would have sided with cause he died off so early compared to the others. Also if Hosea was alive there’s no way it could have got to this point (I hope anyway.) Uncle, Swanson, Trelawny, Pearson and the women, while not fighters main fighters, all would likely have sided with Arthur too.

I think one thing that broke me most about red dead is that loveable characters like Arthur or John are nothing more than criminals from an outsiders prospective.
@bry756 Жыл бұрын
I think the thing about Arthur and John is that they know they are criminals. Doesn't take an outsider to see the Blackwater massacre and see them as monsters. Others like Bill and Javier and especially Dutch try to justify their evil actions, but not John and Arthur. They both always refer to themselves as bad or crazy men, and make evey indication that they don't want to be anymore. That's why they're lovable and that's why ultimately they're the only ones to get any redemption. Bill gets put down like a dog in Mexico, Javier is probably hanged, and Dutch the egomaniac has the most painfully ironic death of all, after running for so long, justifying himself as right even in the face of his own actions, he gives up and takes his own life. Arthur and John are the only ones who were able to leave the world in peace, knowing that their death was to save others and that while the debt of their sins can never be repaid they did their best to recompense and reconcile.

I want at least 10 more hours of gameplay where John and Arthur got closer. To me it seemed as though they went from low-key hating each other to being brothers. Always felt weird. But not even that aspect made this absolute masterpiece even a tiny bit less amazing.

I agreed with this on my first run, though I'm doing all of the extra tiny things in camp that involved John on my second run. The progression is there. Not as much as some would want, myself included but it is there
@snoookie4562 жыл бұрын
You do know there's more to this gang than when they start off in the mountains, right? The story starts with John lost and Arthur complaining that he's the one that has to go save his ass. All of the dialogue up until Dutch starting to completely lose it is, all the implication for what went wrong in Blackwater, this is just more and more backstory that connects the entire gang together, not just Arthur and John. Arthur is loyal. Loyal to Dutch, loyal to the gang, even loyal to those in the gang that annoy him. He saves John, he saves Sean, he even saves Micah. That's what he does. It's loyalty. When he starts questioning that loyalty, that is when he sees where his true loyalty should lie.
@BlueVortex36 Жыл бұрын
Arthur couldn't stand John because he left the gang before rdr 2. And he resented him for it. But they were always brothers. And when Arthur got sick, and saw John finally grow up and act like a decent husband and father to his family, he realized that all the loyalty to the gang meant nothing compared to the loyalty John had to his family. So he let all the anger and resentment go, and helped his brother make it out alive.

This game really changed the way people saw what video games and their narratives could be. Arthur Morgan is an incredible character so many people appreciate and identify with. A beautifully tragic story of redemption, mortality, regret, and humanity. I never cried playing a game and chapter 6 of rdr2 made me pause to collect myself. My first play through I did the high honor ending. That will make even the most stoic tear up. Rdr2 is an incredible achievement in storytelling and what that can be.

Rdr 3 plot idea: before the Van Der Lin gang was completely formed, Arthur, Dutch, and Hosea were the only ones. Imagine the game, allowing you to switch characters (just like gta 5) between hosea, arthur, and dutch, each having their own missions. This would basically tune into the backstory of the feud between Dutch and Colm

Maybe it will work as an animation, I doubt it will be made in a game.

Heard a lot of people talking about this game for a while when it first came out, didn’t really pay it any attention, I just bought it last year (reluctantly) expecting to be disappointed. But this is by far the best storyline of any movie or game I’ve ever seen

It was such a sad ending I just really wanted him to run away with John or atleast hold off the pinker tubs then escape too. Arthur was my favourite character I love him and always will
