It hits me so hard every time, when Arthur says to the sister, "I'm afraid." The sound of his voice and the look on his face is heart-wrenching. We've seen him scared numerous times before and after that moment, but it was always a normal, physical fear. Fear of being shot, of being burned, run over by a train/wagon, or attacked by an animal. In that moment with the sister though, you see him afraid of something that can't be escaped or fought. It's an existential fear. The fear of dying, a slow and terrible death. The fear of not knowing what comes next. And the fear of what will happen to those he'll leave behind. He wasn't ready for it to happen, and there was never any way he could have been prepared. He tried so hard to be tough, and put on a good front in front of others after finding out about his sickness, but in the end he can't hide it all from the sister. So he let's it out. He bares his heart and soul, all his fears and worries, to this holy woman, and finds some small answers and comforts to his problem. He can't be saved, he knows that, but he can try to save others in the time thats left. Save those that matter to him, those that truly deserve saving.
@swordsmanfabian18
@swordsmanfabian18 2 жыл бұрын
I think in the end Arthur WAS saved. He didn't make excuses or try to get people to forgive him, he just did what small kindnesses he could to show he was sorry for the choices he made, for example when Arthur tells Archie Downes "I said don't thank me", I knew he was going to be okay. Whether you believe something comes after or not, Arthur Morgan was redeemed and died a victorious death.

And that fear was sensible, it made sense. So he made the last of it, to make things right, to help folk…to help others survive and strive for their next life. But his life is fading to darkness into the void of hopelessness where there is no turning back but he has a choice, stay the man he was as being the giant or change others and be the good man that he wants to be and as well as winning over the giant but that’s for you to decide his destiny. His changing. His life… his hope. It’s not a simulation, it’s not a experience, it’s a story… a lesson to those that don’t want pride but peace and prosperity in this earth. A video game may be always the answer but all that we or I know is that this one is the answer

At 57 years old, I have enjoyed many hours of vicarious entertainment on almost every platform and console since the dawn of video gaming. Never in all my years have I been so moved by any story put forth for us to enjoy. Arthur Morgan's story is quite the tale of adventure, fear, love, hate and...redemption. When you finish, there is a profound sense of loss, slightly akin to losing an actual family member. When Yukon, my trusty steed gave up the ghost trying to get us to freedom, and Morgan took a moment to say "Thank you.." I shed a tear for the first time in many years. Many were the days IRL where I did not feel well. I would fire up the game and begin wandering around. After only a few minutes I would begin to feel alright. Sunrises and sunsets are actually quite breathtaking when you take the time to notice them. Wandering through Big Valley, or up in the high country, I was often rendered quiet and motionless while I Gazed at the vistas before me.The weather effects were incredible as well, holed up in a cave or in a tent, one could find a quieting of the mind listening to the rain and thunder. I had my moments of extreme fright when a predator chose to introduce themselves as well. In closing, I would highly recommend RDR2 to anyone who enjoys open world gaming.The story is great, immersive, and the world is...impeccable. Good night Dear reader, I bid you peace.

I can proudly say that Arthur reignited a flame of good in me. My dad who passed away when I was little was always remembered for the good that he’s done for others, people adored him for his generosity and good will to help. After many years I forgot that.. became egotistical and a dick. After playing this game, experiencing this story and Arthurs journey I remembered my father and his choice to be good and kind to others and every day I try doing the same, being good, kind, generous and healing others, helping them. Not because I’ll get something back but because it’s the right thing to do, because it makes me feel good and because it brings joy to others and maybe even gives them a good impression and memory of me even if that chance is slim. Be good guys and gals, make the world a kinder place to live in and always protect your loved ones.

The character is fictional, but the pain is damn real. Three days since I finished the main story. I didn’t play the first part, I didn’t know anything, but I roughly imagined that a game about outlaws could not have a happy ending. But... How painful! When Artur was told the diagnosis, I was surprised. So the script says in advance that the character has no chance, and it seems like there is time to come to terms, to accept the inevitable. But at this moment, Arthur is no longer a character, he is a real and close person who is so hard to let go. From that moment on, I began to do "stupid" things: sit by the fire, drink hot, wait out the rain, as if this care at least means something. Began to engage in side quests or just wander around the area so as not to approach the end, not to return to the oppressive atmosphere of the camp, not to be disappointed with Arthur in his family. Arthur drove to Beavers Hollow for the last time, and I really cried. You understand that literally at the behest of your hand a person goes to his death. And everything else is like torture, you just don’t have time to realize everything, your heart shrinks ... Anger, pain, sadness, joy, bitterness and disbelief. And now the epilogue begins, but in your heart it’s just longing. The word "masterpiece" doesn't seem strong enough anymore. I didn't think that after "Metro: Exodus" I could be so touched by the game. Despite the fact that I played at minimum settings, this did not hurt the story. Probably, with graphics, as in the video, with detailed emotions, I simply could not cope emotionally. So hard I have none by my side to discuss this game. You're a good man, Arthur Morgan, and I miss you dearly.

Through the life of Arthur Morgan Rockstar has delivered one of the best stories in gaming to this day. How the story unfolded so slowly and practiced careful character development was so magical and felt....real. Red Dead Redemption 2 seemed so different, it felt like something on the big screen or inside the pages of a novel. I never have felt myself more connected to a video game character. And this video is a testament to the fact that people everywhere around the world have also sensed this deep down their heart. Thank you Zurik for recognising the art that was Red Dead Redemption 2. It was somehow so atypical for the story of a game and yet so wonderful.

I don't think there will be another story as amazing as this in a video game. This was more than a game for a lot of people - it was inspiration, lessons, an escape from a lot of 21st century bullshit we didn't want to be a part of. Thank you, Rockstar Games.

+1 I think it's amazing that this game is a part of the 21st century. A (very rare) good part of it. The scene was set to 1899, then ended in 1911, that seems like on purpose. Arthur sure feels like a man of the 19th century. He has the character as those in the novels of Victor Hugo or Fyodor Dostoevsky, sinned, doubtful, coarse, yet spiritually connected and committed to the most precious hidden treasure that mankind could ever reach. Playing it is an experience when I forget about the tiresome divisions of this century and look up to the stars, realizing that we are all humans after all, good and bad. "What's the meaning of the scars if we don't know how to heal" this game is far beyond a game.

Red dead is truly an American epic. Rdr2 serves to make the first game so bittersweet and ultimately tragic. Arthur is so relatable, regardless of how you play him. We all wrestle with our own demons. All men cast shadows. Realizing the need to change and repent, as Arthur did, even if it was at the very end of his tale, are I believe, the marks of a good man. Or at least evidence that there is a goodness that influences man. So much of this series is about cycles, being unable to escape your past, of men failing against the world, and ultimately their own sin nature, or at least the consequences thereof. Arthur and John succeeded in their own ways, for what was right, for family. And poor Jack, in a way the main focus of the entire story, or rather the shining light that helps our main characters pursue redemption, as he stands for innocence and a hopeful future, takes revenge into his own hands. By choosing vengeance for his father, and in a way the rest of the gang against the government and so called “civilization”, he continues the cycle. Maybe he stops after Ross and continues his life as a writer or lawyer or as just a simple man of the land, but nothing can take back the fact that he murdered a man, regardless of that man’s character. I want to hope for an honorable Jack, but at the same time it could be that he undid all that everyone fought for. He may have become exactly what his parents didn’t want him to be. Entire essays could be written on this story. It has the soul of America in a way, the good and the bad. Of hopeful promises, freedom, opportunity, and of failure, greed, vice, violence, and vengeance. The world is never going to be good and easy, we will always have to fight for what’s right here, even if it is against ourselves. I’m so thankful that Rockstar gave us such an amazing cast of characters and that so many people can connect over this series. May the wind be at your backs, partners.

As I'm writing this, tears are dropping onto my keyboard and i can hardly see what im saying, so please if i spelled something wrong dont tell me to rewrite this, i'll probably cry again. Thank you, Rockstar.

5:55 I don't know why hearing all those characters saying "you're a good man" or "you're the best man I know" cut together got me teary-eyed like they were saying it TO ME and not a character whose boots I lived in for a short while. Maybe this is ultimately all we want - to be acknowledged and remembered as good people. And for that to happen you first got to be a good person. They really answered the question to "what is the meaning of life" in this story.

This is really Outstanding, all of those executions, the sceneries, the emotions of the faces the characters gave, the philosophies and I can still go on. Arthur was and will definitely still the most realistic character ever made from the video game genre.

I still watch the talk between Arthur and the Sister. That scene is so powerful and genuine, and when Arthur says that he's afraid, it always gets me. You can see the genuine fear and concern in his face that he has unfinished business to do, that he hasn't left a legacy he's proud of, and the cry for help he's giving to her, I think it's one of the most powerful scenes in media history, and it's not even the only one out of this game.

Arthur lives in all of us. We all have done things we regret. Weve done harm weve made mistakes, terrible mistakes. But we cant change the past, all we can do is decide what we can and will do in the future. "Take a gamble that love exists and do a loving act" there is always hope to change.
