My Arthur was always relatively well dressed with a level 2-3 beard and usually level 3-4 right parted fade haircut. I tried to keep him clean cut while being a genuine and kind guy besides when he needed to be the tough and gruff outlaw. The whole heart of gold hidden beneath the rough exterior kind of deal.

I dunno I didn't play RDR1 because no PC port, so I don't know what he grows into but as of Chapter 3 John Marston is more of a douchebag younger brother than Sean McGuire. I am so sorry but something about John makes me want to bite him and shake him like a dog with a toy (unpleasantly.) I hate him. But not the way I hate Micah Bell or anything, I just hate him in the way of “I want to smack this man but I don’t want him outright harmed” whereas there are plenty of characters in rdr2 who deserve to be turned into grapes to be turned into raisins and then served to people who hate raisins. Arthur though, that’s different! Anyone who hates Arthur Morgan of all characters, certainly cannot be trusted, or perhaps cannot see nuance and therefore not appreciate his character! I would just like to add that in my experience, most of the time women ARE polite to men. Not being polite can be a death sentence, and being polite tends to be ingrained harder in young girls early on than it is in young boys. If a woman is being what a man thinks is disrespectful, or impolite to him, always good for him to reflect on his own actions, the situation, and let go of some ego to see if perhaps he is the problem or if perhaps there were some miscommunications happening. Some women are just jerks, some men are just jerks, and some people also just haven’t been taught how to be polite the way other people are. Some people also come from countries and cultures that don’t demand the same behaviors as another does to be called “polite”. Arthur Morgan canonically behaves in a way most people can regard as polite and canonically behaves the way a real “alpha” should. Even at his sassiest it isn’t terribly mean spirited or irreparable, at least not to characters he either isn’t very familiar with or people he cares about deeply. He is a caretaker and protector, does not make unkind or inappropriate advances on women, generally good to children provided they aren’t stealing from him, judged by character and not by appearance or religion, and is naturally inclined to want to help people he can’t even understand through language barriers (even if he gets frustrated with it and has to put on a big show about how they aren’t a charity, that always seems to me to bluster to try to convince himself to be callous. But he is happiest seeing good people well and doing good for others brings him satisfaction!), and just generally doesn’t seem inclined to bigotry in a time where that was hugely an issue in a country with a large founding with the more extremist religious individuals from Europe being the ones to sail over and start expanding and dominating. I have yet to see it but I heard a man once encouraged him to wear a corset and all he did was pretty much go “no thank you” because he also didn’t want to offend the man who was passionate about his work, and got kissed by a guy once (when was this??? I will find out soon!) and all he said was, reportedly, so do take this with a grain of salt, “please don’t do that again.” (I only get to see clips and play through of this game not play it myself!) He isn’t cruel to animals. He can be very kind and seems to admire them based on the dialogues he has, the praises for horses, drunkenly adoring a cat, and so on. Whether you are a man or a woman or other, High Honor Arthur Morgan is someone anyone can look at as a source of admiration, inspiration, and seek to behave in ways more aligned with what he would do. In all honesty, minus the bloodshed for jobs that go sour or require it from the start, and the gang violence, he’s a remarkably good guy! Sorry for the Big Ramble, woke up anxious and then saw this comment and had a ball remembering how nice Arthur Morgan can be, and the things that I admire about his character that I too must take into my own to be better as a human being!
