Here are the three different cutscenes from the mission "The Fine Art of Conversation": 0:20 - Arthur meets Reverend Swanson (Low Honor) 3:28 - Arthur meets Reverend Swanson (High Honor) 6:42 - Arthur meets Sister Calderon (High Honor) [NOTE: You have to complete Brother Dorkins' second mission in Saint Denis called "Brothers and Sisters, One and All", where you meet Sister Calderon for the first time]

ScotiBot If that is the toughest thing for a man to say then an outdated idea of masculinity is the problem. We all know that men have the same feelings as women so why suppress them and why not admit them? Doesn’t make sense. Being honest to yourself and others always commands my highest respect.
@scotibot7450
@scotibot7450 4 жыл бұрын
Celisar1 ever consider its our societal norms that are to blame and not the concept of masculinity or even femininity for that matter? In most societies men are seen as more disposable than women and that’s goes back millennia even amongst the more patriarchal of societies. I mean think about it who primarily fights in wars? Men. Who primarily works the most dangerous jobs? Men. It seems in any society men typically make up the aegis that protect it and the workhorse that labours for it even today. My point is that because of this it’s not easy for men to show such emotions as it could be seen as a display of weakness of deficiency. And many people will often push that narrative both men and women And in terms of emotional projections I’d say that’s just as true now as it was back in 1899 when RDR2 is set
@Celisar1
@Celisar1 4 жыл бұрын
ScotiBot Yes, times have unfortunately hardly changed society in regard to all to many gender stereotypes and cliches. Our societal norms equal the concept of masculinity and femininity. If we think something is not manly according to our concept of masculinity then it becomes the societal norm and vice versa. Body strength is the primary reason why men fought in wars and later had the physically demanding, dangerous jobs. The “men being seen as more “disposable” thing” is not right. The survival of a tribe is only ensured by both sexes (reg. Fighting as well as child care). In most societies it was made very hard for women to make a living by themselves, so a husband was very important. Of course since children are the most precious resource in every society and women were the ones doing child care women and children were in emergency situations prioritized in western countries during the last centuries, but that’s not the same everywhere.
@scotibot7450
@scotibot7450 4 жыл бұрын
Celisar1 physicality is one aspect of it but here’s the other you are missing beyond collective cohesion of a tribe. You have 2 tribes one with a larger percentage per head of women and the other with a larger percentage of men. The former has a better chance of continuing as when it comes to repopulating I.e childbirth as it can more easily deal with the rigours of bearing children. As opposed to the latter where the women’s lot would be more arduous. If we look at it in non individualistic terms women are held to a higher value than men because of this. It’s sounds pretty primal I know but ultimately this is why most societies are typically protective of the female of the species... oppressively so in some cases I can grant you but ultimately a loss of a woman is more deeply felt than that of a man from a top down perspective. In regards to the child rearing aspect (and before I continue I wanna be clear I’m talking averages here not absolutes) men and women are wired differently chemically as well as physically. Men tend to be more aggressive (another reason why we end up as frontline troops) women more socially adept.

SORA even tho that was the only life Arthur knew after his family, wife and son passed away. Wild West was a really fucked up age, there were a lot of crimes because of the lack of law and job in that time. So there were not so many opportunities of getting money in the legal way. Arthur was just getting money for the gang in the only way he could: murdering, stealing etc, he only murdered when needed and he stole because it was the only way they could survive. Arthur was a good man living a life that he didn’t chose, the only life he knew and the only way you could live in the Wild West. Sorry for my English it isn’t my native language.

It's fascinating, really. It hammers in that there's no karma system, it's an honor system. Low honor Arthur just accepts the loss of yet another friend, because he's in no position to throw stones. High honor Arthur seems like he legitimately scares the Reverend by his sheer presence, because how do you explain your own cowardice to the man who makes your faith look pitiful? Rockstar put a lot of thought into these characters and this scene.

Robert Brooks well, if you look at it closely, Arthur isn’t a good man right from the get go. He doesn’t seem to care much about others or robbing or anything. But right when he gets TB, it’s like he sees things more clearly. He becomes the man he never thought he would. Betraying his old gang and helping his old friend. It feels like the story that makes the most sense. He doesn’t really stop being a bad man (all the robberies and deaths he’s caused), and then all of a sudden he tries to redeem himself. Doesn’t matter, still played with max honor the entire game. Couldn’t handle being a dickhead Arthur.

It always gave me hope that he would change. I started seeing him change at Shady Belle and I got super happy but Arthur was always mean to him. And when the mission starting with the Reverend scene got so deep until Dutch interrupted them. I had the high honor Reverend scene and I’m happy that I didn’t get the Sister. I played back and got to Sister and I just enjoyed Reverend so much more. People hate Reverend but I loved Reverend’s character.

All V actually did, introduced to GTA universe the real actors scene, not just voice, (much like LA Noire) they truly built a big world, but not as big as RDR2.... I do love how rockstar greatly encourages you to choose to be honorable. The game is so much more rewarding and all the more so when Arthur dies. I think they wanted Arthur to be one of the good guys with his continence very much intact rather than just a mindless killer. He fears everything we fear and has been through hell. Yet he has the soul of a king. And that's probably why he was named after one.

@@deathrager2404 I know you said this 8 months ago, so a bit late on the reply, but you missed the whole point of the story. The game makes you be bad because you're playing Arthur's story, and Arthur's story is one of a life where he's been led into bad situations and into doing bad things constantly by the star he follows, which is Dutch. The theme of the whole game is people can try to be someone else, but they end up becoming more of who they really are over time. Dutch builds himself up to be this moral compass, this kingly character with the love of the finer things in life, but he's wrestling with who he really is, which is a sort of sociopath who will do or say anything to get his way. Arthur is our contrast to Dutch, where Arthur has spent his whole life building himself up to be bad, so he could survive and fit in with the gang he ran with. But Sister Calderon sees who he really is, that he's happiest when he's doing kind deeds and helping people. She knows that deep down, that's Arthur's real character, though he's always been fighting against it. Like Mary says to him, there's a good person within Arthur, but he's wrestling with a giant. So the game, the missions, the story is all there to illustrate Arthur's struggle with overcoming that giant, and becoming the good person that was underneath all along.

Does anyone else find it funny people were pissed to play as jack Marston after john died, and now everyone is pissed to play as John Marston after Arthur died lol. They literally created a character that was better than the original and they tried to correct their mistake from the first one only to end up making the same mistake again lmao. Red dead 3 will have us playing as someone else in the early days of the Dutch gang they will get killed and we will finish out that game as Arthur and probably be pissed we have to do so

daniel gudino that’s lowkey genius to play as Arthur’s father, we can progress and see Arthur grow while we also play a dickhead of a character so when he dies and we play as Arthur we’re all happy. Or alternatively he lived a secret life and was actually a good person but Arthur could never see the good to his dad’s work and only that he was neglected or some shit and then we hate Arthur because he was a judgmental prick to his dad. GOD I WANT TO WRITE THIS NEXT GAME

if you think about it its genius. we get to know and love a character and truly miss them when theyre gone. and we are reunited with an old character we went down the same journey with before. so they never truly leave us.

“The greatest wealth is your health, all the gold in the world cannot purchase it and yet it is the most delicate and tenuous of all life’s gifts” This quote wraps it up nicely for we tend to take our health for granted. In fact, apart from the home pastures of the gang, the only valuable posession Arthur ever had was his health. Since his chances of being a family man were destroyed, he never found his true calling in life nor did he ever acquire decent selfworth to appreciate the beautiful guy he really was. Despite his efforts to redeem himself, his end seems so utterly fruitless, I am quite heartbroken because he definitely deserved more. To anyone who reads this, I hope you have a fulfilling and healthy life wherever you are.

OriginalDrDeLeon First of thanks for replying, weird though that I did not get a notification. What you are saying is absolutely right, he did make a few things right towards the end. He was one of those who never could have adapted to the changing world around him, he was bound to die from the start, he himself knew it. But I felt that they made him a tad too likable to just kill him off …

the scene with the sister is clearly the most impactful, and in my mind the most canon, but its a shame that you dont really get closure with the reverend when you get it. you just get back to camp and he's left and thats it.

That's still more closure than you get with Karen Jones. She is the ONLY character who just...vanishes. No explanation given, nobody asks about her, nobody has rumors. @@bretmaverick7774 She doesn't vanish per say, while her fate is unknown, a letter from Tilly states that she has most likely died from alcohol poisoning during the time-skip, literally drinking herself to death from her depression and addiction (there is signs of this, during the final chapter she's rarely ever sober, wandering around the camp constantly drunk and just being bitter in every conversation, her alcohol problem gets even worse than Uncle's).
