This is probably the only time Arthur Worsley spoke on stage during his career ( 5:12 ). An absolute genius and, in my view, there has been no better ventriloquist before or since.

Even though I know the punchline I still laugh. Not only was Arthur Worsley the best ventriloquist ever, he was extremely funny with it. He packs so much into one very short, slick routine. I wish I had been able to see him in a full show. I wish more of his work had been saved for future generations to be able to appreciate his talent. 👋

3 things I look at when a ventriloquist acts, lips, reaction, clear voice this guy has mastered it to perfection a ventriloquist could have a funny act but if i see his lips movie it spoils it because I'm looking at his lips movie.This guy is so good he makes you think that the puppet is real..

Arthur Wilkinson Worsley (16 October 1920 - 19 July 2001) was a British ventriloquist who appeared regularly on British television from the 1950s to the 1970s. His act with dummy Charlie Brown had Charlie do all the talking, while Worsley himself remained "silent".

I had the pleasure of meeting Arthur at the Alexandra Theatre B'ham in 64 while working there .I was standing at the side of the stage one evening as he was coming off when I touched Charlie's head .He immediately swivelled his head around a couple of times and said "Aye Aye what are you doing" 😂...Another time my friend and I were in his dressing room and Arthur showed us him putting Charlie in his case and Charlie was talking all the time as the lid went down! 🤣...Very happy days .I could write a book! 😁...

For technical skill, he's unsurpassed, and his scripts are great. But Arthur's near expressionlessness holds the proceedings back. He's not interacting with Charlie, and part of a vent's act is that interaction, is being the reasonable straight man to his obnoxious dummy.

One of the worst ventriloquist acts I have ever seen, His lips move slightly sometimes when talking and during every word when singing. His body posture is moving far too much with every word rather than showing he is relaxed and not making to much effort trying to hide the fact he is talking which is the whole point of the illusion and he fails to do it at all. He shows no interaction with the doll and just looks away. This is bad acting in so many ways. When a ventriloquist makes no effort to make a good act, show good posture and be involved in a conversation with the doll how can he be the best or at the very least good!
