I like the way she does the act acknowledging that she is the one making the dummy talk. She's the one doing all the talking, singing (in a low voice), she's the one breathing etc and yet she stays in character.

Nina Conti is just brilliant. Of course she has great ventriloquism talent; but she also has an actor's characterisation skill and a comedian's timing. She is a superior performer.

"Oh, please", nothing. She is super-talented. The nonchalant manner that she effects makes it seem that she is not doing much. But there's plenty going on in her act. And she nails it, with amazing poise. Nina Conti is remarkably good.

Absolutely brilliant! I’ve watched it a bunch of times and I laugh every time and I’m more and more impressed each time. You almost forget that she’s doing it all…when the monkey whacks her to wake her up, the way he then slides off to the side looking away. Then her interaction with monkey…the timing is incredible, he says something and she laughs at it. , you almost forget it’s her own self she’s reacting to.

Just recently I found out that her father is Tom Conti. Watched Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence back in the day, and in later years the third of Bale’s Batman movies (forgot the title). And she really is incredibly skilled

I’ve now been watching Nina for a while and I think I can say this with confidence now. I’m in my 70s and I’ve seen all the great ventriloquists…Bergen, Winchell, Lewis, Dunham, Farmer. Nina Conti is the GOAT. I swear, Monkey is real. Thank you for the hours of entertainment.

Hilarious. That's the funny thing about ventriloquism, pretty much anyone can learn to talk without moving their lips but it takes real talent to turn that into a performance as good as this. You need to be able to give the puppet "life" through believable dialogue, good characterisation & voicework plus you need to write the jokes and deliver them well while timing your breaths perfectly. Add onto that, the difficulty of performing a song at the same time and she's like a one woman entertainer, specialising in everything.

A ventriloquist once told me that if you use your tongue against your teeth to pronounce an N that it still pretty much sounds right. Similarly a D stands in for a B. So a dride gets narried becomes a bride gets married.

I've seen her in London a few times (including an accidental meeting in the Belsize Park tube station) ... she's very kind and engaging, and seems to have the same personality in public as on stage. And her act is absolutely hilarious! Her father, Tom Conti, was (is) a famous British actor who most-recently played Albert Einstein in Oppenheimer.
