These ones are made in there hundreds at a time for gift and tourist shops.nothing wrong with them, but usually a little gap here and there blade not centered.but they are a fantastic work knife.atb paddy.😊

Once you have the grind the way you want it they are outstanding Barlow's. Fantastic little carver's/whittlers that will last a lifetime with a little looking after. My Trafalgar brand Lambsfoot has the same tang stamp on it, not as nice as the A Wrights but still great working knives.

@@ThriftyKaniffy They could possibly be both made at A Wrights, my Lambsfoot has that look about it, you'd be hard pressed to tell an A Wright 3 inch Lambsfoot from a Trafalgar just by a picture, it even has the same sort of marks on the brass liners. Trafalgar is mostly gardening tools so maybe they contract out their knives?

These are really good, artisan made, working pocketknives made at a very good price, especially as they’re made in a western democracy that pays decent wages. Most of Wright’s knives are marked with their name, but they also sell parts, especially blades, to other makers. As a result, they also use a couple of generic Sheffield stamps. Additionally they have an older stamp, known the Candelabra. Ashley Harrison now uses this for his one off work.

I'm fairly local to Sheffield and grew up within spitting distance, personally I like the fact knives like Barlow's and warnclif's are more than likely named after villages I've been through on my push bike. I'm a trained carpenter so I love the local tools but tailors eye witness knives have always been my choice. FYI we can carry anything with a reason and before anyone thinks self defense is a reason that's not legal here

Man, this attention to blade centering on ANY knife, when you get down to it, is very trivial. As long as the cutting edge is not rubbing, it really doesn’t matter. As long as the knife opens without much effort, and the edge is not compromised, does it really matter in the scheme of things? What can I say, the Barlow is a classic and this one is all right in my book.

These are very much a working man’s knife a.wright are good knives but you always need to put an edge on them which is a bugger but once it’s solid sorted it’s solid

The edge can definitely be improved upon. Rather crude initially. A good sharpen and you're in business and 01 tool steel is easy enough to do so.

I'm always slightly disappointed to receive an AW knife without their name stamped on it. A lot of KZbinrs mention how the QC has improved since Michael and Ashley took over and this seems to be true but i think it's a real shame that they are happy to release knives that could've been made by somebody else. Perhaps they are? Maybe they sub contract knives out under an umbrella company? They certainly look like AW's but why dont they put their name on them? Slick Slicers is always moaning about illegible stamps on AW's or the word England not being readable, i don't care about that at all i just want to know that it was made by AW.😂
