Just recently bought this lens for my Nikon Z50. I`m really happy with it so far, the build quality at this price is just unbelivable. And if you want to brush up on or getting into manual shooting, this is the one. I can see this lens beeing a good match on the Zfc, i might just have to get one of those also.

Great review of a very interesting manual lens! I totally love the TT Artisan 35/1.4, am very curious now about this 50/1.2! What really seems to stand out is the mechanics of these lenses, well-damped focusing, beautiful aperture ring etc. These TT Artisans feel just a bit better than the other "cheap" lenses it seems ...

I've still got a Sigma 24mm manual lens which I bought in 1973. It's got four built in filters and took (takes?) excellent images although not razor tack mind blowingly crisply sharp, they're still satisfying even after nearly fifty years. Thank god for the school of impressionism.

@@CINEMAVISIONCZ - I use a Pentax Taumar 50mm f1.4 with an Adapter on my a6400... I am pretty sure it would give the Sigma a run for the money... at far less money. Very Very Sharp Lens. ...but, i also have a Pentax SMC 50mm f1.4 in PK/A mount, and with the Adapter I have, the Aperture can be controlled by the Camera. I do think the Takumar is only Slightly Sharper. One of my Favorite Lenses to use for Portraiture is a Nikon Nikkor 85mm f1.4 with an adapter on the a6400. Very Sharp Lens with fantastic Bokeh.

Had to look up the procedures for adapting the SONY α6500 to manual focusing. For $98, a real bargain. With the advent of cameras that can get decent photos at ISO 5000, the major value of f/1.2 is decreasing depth of field, not low-light work. I could have used this lens when Panatomic-X was needed for 11 x 14 enlargements from 35mm.

@@ArthurR yeah, that is the lens of the year 2021. Imho there won't be any other new lenses at that level for sony apsc. I'd be extremely happy to see something like a 10-18 made from Tamron or sigma with a good price and good performance (not like the Sony...), but seen where the market is going, I don't really think it will happen. Speaking of me, I'm about to replace the venerable and awesome 18 135 with the 17 70. Curious to watch your always detailed side by side with 16 55 and possibly 18 135 or 18 105, if you still own them. I also wanna suggest you to include a sunstar test in your reviews! Excellent review as always and great photos. A minor quibble which would enhance my understanding of the key points you make - when showing comparison shots side by side it is often not clear which is shot by which lens unless reversing back to the beginning where you say it once. Can you label the photos or at least say "the Sigma lens on the left..." etc.

Also I struggle to find any lens reviews or articles where they shoot lens anything slower than a stop lower than wide open. Who would take a photo of tree's on in extremely bright midday/afternoon sun at f1.2? If it's just to test the fringing, it's still irrelevant because if you're not silly you would never take that photo...

if you're here for the first time, his channel is pretty much just like that for all lenses. SHARPNESS SHARPNESS SHARPNESS. I watched quite a lot of his videos before switching to actual reviews from channels with people looking at all types lenses (especially vintage) and talking about contrast, micro-contrast, lens character and different bokeh types ... The good stuff you know ! You would think after all this time that he would get a damn Zeiss Otus Sharpmonster to say about every other lens ... not as sharp. But he's more of a sigma fanboy !!

I mostly play with vintage lenses, and none are super sharp compared to modern lenses. I only have a XF16-80mm as a modern lens, which blows the others out of the water on sharpness. That said, when I go for the vintage lenses, I don't care about sharpness. I'm trying to do other things, and want a certain type of feel.
