His articulation!!! My god, this performance is incredible. Every single note.
@pabloalfonsoechaurren6406
@pabloalfonsoechaurren6406 8 ай бұрын
There is actually nothing special about his articulation in the least. If something is special about it, is precisely his "anti articulation". I'm not saying you can't hear every note, but that's just the starting point. His articulation is generally quite soft and that is one of his main strengths. That's not what's commonly refered to as a "great articulation". Furthermore, you can hear in the 2nd etude, more than a few notes are missing there in the middle part. Might have just been a few mistakes but it seems that it lacks strength in the articulation. Pianists with an unusually great articulation are Zimerman or Ashkenazy for instance, and precisely because of that, they sound very different. I'm not hating on Trifonov at all, I think he's an outstanding pianist and I consider him to be the greatest of the newer generation, but articulation is not something that defines him at all.

Technically brilliant admittedly, but I feel the melody of the accented notes is not quite brought out as it is in performances like Pollini's. Of course, it's a great performance and I could do nothing of the sort, but there is better in my opinion.

Trifonov makes me smile, gasp, wonder all the way through this. Listening on my own here, I wish I had someone to share the wonder with right now. (It is after 1 am at home after all!) I am in awe. He doesn't deliver one study after another - there's a grand cohesion to his delivery - a real sense of drive throughout. I have played these studies, listened to many a performance of them. The man's a genius.

Just wow... that's all I can say... That and I have heard many excellent pianists playing all those studies but with Trifonov I just discovered them.🤩 An excellent pianist you are amazed by his/her technic: "what a left hand! Wow the speed is incredible!" An excellent pianist and musician you are just listening. Nothing goes through your head except where the music take you. I listened Chopin's study n2 op25 by Lang Lang. Good recording, amazing technic. While he was playing i was thinking how in control he is and how his technic is flueless. Then youtube recommanded me Rubinstein recorded in Russia. Poor quality, but there I didnt think anything. I was just following Rubinstein. I had the same with Zimmerman. And now Trifonov!

I'm shocked at some of the comments here. I was yelling "Bravo" after the first two etudes. I caught very minor missed notes here and there in the 1st, but the 2nd was pristine. I can't imagine the pressure a pianist must feel sitting in front of a keyboard at the start of doing this set in concert. Fortunately, Trifonov has the chops to pull it off. Incidentally, Trifonov is a composer who last year premiered his Piano Concerto in E-flat Minor but a video of it does not exist on KZbin. I wonder if it's ultra avant-gard or more traditional like my own Piano Concerto No 2 in C Minor which IS here on KZbin. Sure wish I could get him interested in premiering it.

In No.2 his 4th and 5th fingers are 1000 times more agile than my 2nd and 3rd fingers could ever be! That said, his playing comes from not the fingers, hands, arms, etc., but from the heart, mind, and most important, his soul.

I really haven't come across a recording of No 6 that measures up to his, even the Greats like Richter or Horowitz fall short in my opinion (Horowitz's rendition deserves a listen though to hear him play Chopin like Bach there (imho), perhaps to do justice to the grave nature of the piece). However, Trifonov absolutely blows my mind here. Profusely mystical, such deep intelligence and sensibility.

just listen to his op 10 no 1 I don't think richter can touch it because he trifo plays it with such absolute perfection down to the smallest detail at an impossibly fast speed its almost like its not like individual notes anymore its like a whole new level. yeah richters technique was perfect but trifo is more artistic

I sat in the front row when he played #32 in concert in a small city in Japan last year. Since then, of course, he has played it on tour everywhere. Very satisfying.
