TL;DR: Arti is doing damn fine considering even an Ancient has no way of using that gun properly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tbf the ergonomics of that gun are absolute hell; the magazine is _between_ the pistol grip and the trigger, so there is no way of operating the trigger while using that hand to hold the weapon stable. There are guns where the trigger doesn't have a pistol grip; but with those you wrap your hand around where the stock connects to the rest of the gun, something not possible with a bullpup configuration (unless the magazine is in the stock, which this isn't). You _could_ use thumb-over-bore; but then you would be blocking the sight, as it lacks an indent like in the RPD's foregrip. And that's before you realise how the trigger is pretty much right underneath the ejection port (albeit it doesn't seem to function anyways) I would say this was designed for point-shooting, but there is what seems to have been a front sight in a previous life. The only way I can see this working is if that's a recoil mitigation device; forcing the gasses up until they slam the roof, rotating the barrel upwards (even though the top of the stock is in line with the firing line, so that would be detrimental). Although I can totally see the Ancients doing that instead of something like the AKM's muzzle device flipped upside down, the Ancients seem to have a cartoon-comedy type of inefficiency; they do everything with flying colours, but in the least logical way possible like a Rube Goldberg machine. We do not know how _most_ of their technology works and you could argue that the pipes snake around at times to route around other machinery; but the karma gates are just as they seem beyond a reasonable doubt, and according to my counting they have at least 49 moving parts. Keep in mind: moving part = part that can fail = part that will fail.
