Please take this guys feedback. The strumming idea is great and I love messing with this instrument but it has these minor frustrations as a beginner to play a simple song and trying to find the notes, or strum like a guitar/ bass thats a barrier to use.

Thanks! FWIW, I've played guitar for years, but only pluck around on keys. I want a piece of hardware that feels like a fretboard to compose and send MIDI, and that is portable. Instrument 1 and Chorda would seem to fit those needs.

I got this and I hope they listen to you with an update. Seriously. Especially the strumming bit. I posted about that and was told that was dumb and am glad someone else wants that feature.

Enjoyed the review! i’m interested in the Chorda, but the reviews are pretty weak from users on Sweetwater. Do you have any concerns about overall quality?

Thanks! I intentionally avoided reviews to not make mine bias. In reference to your question, I don’t have any concerns with build quality.

To be fair, I was one of the ones that made a negative review on Sweetwater as soon as the Chorda was released at the end of 2023. I had my first one malfunction on me, then my 2nd one. I sent them both back under warranty. Now, almost a year later, I took another chance on one because I absolutely loved the concept and was hoping that they had fixed all the bugs. I also had realized that it was probably partly my fault with the malfunctions too because I read that the super-fast smartphone chargers aren't good for charging the Artiphon because it can overload it and possibly cause it to malfunction. That type of charger is exactly the kind I was using on my first 2. I've only used the standard 5V - 1.55A chargers with my new Chorda and have had no problems. Mine is also a "Demo" model that Sweetwater used for their demo videos so I know it's been working for a little while.

I had a first gen Artiphon and it was having issues, and was out of warranty. Artiphon offered no way to even pay to fix it. Basically they told me to throw it away. Done with them.

No mini jack MIDI, at that price, is absurd. Seems really disappointing as the thing I would use it as, which is as a MIDI controller.

The midi out is via usb c or Bluetooth. But yeah, I’d want midi 3.5 at least.

The only thing I’ve seen the app do is allow you to adjust reverb and delay and individual volume tracks. Oh and download more music packs. It just mostly helps you navigate faster. As far as I’m aware.

agreed... not interested in apps at all, but it is only a matter of time until the app stops being supported. instruments used to last forever, an app makes it so it lasts 5, 10 years??? not worth it. Also, these companies do not get to have permission to access my devices files. 250 dollars for something you can do in a DAW with the midi controller you have already, GAS

Still can’t believe they took such an amazing device like instruments one and made this crap. All they needed was to change the strum on instrument one to be like this and update few things. Getting rid of the frets was huge mistake
