Thanks for checking it out! Happy to hear it's worth recommending. The hidden pivot is a nod to some of my favorite French knifemakers that share a similar aesthetic. The Ahab was initially designed as a front flipper as well! The comparison to a TRM with hotswappable scales isn't far off either. I love slicey knives and this one was certainly designed to fit the bill. The skeletonized nested liners are a reference to harpoon wielding Captain Ahab's white whale, Moby Dick.

When I first seen this I absolutely loved it! I’m a sucker for weird looking knives I guess, looks like a great food prepping knife!

Very cool budget knife. I think i like it better in the black G10. Thank you for another great review!

It actually reminds me A LOT of the David Lespect Custom Front Flipper you showed on your channel.

Totally agree. I also said it feels like a budget TRM atom when i got mine. --- Contender for Budget KOTY?

I love the look of this knife. It would look sick with some aftermarket ultem scales to see those cool milled out liners. Thanks MC!

Was thinking it looked more like that David Lespect you reviewed than the TRM, just round off the handle a bit and you're nearly there... just me?

I just got the black G-10 model , its a bit tricky to unlock for a lefty as the liner doesn’t have any jumping and i find it really slick ,easy solution to reach around and let it drop on your finger , other than that I really like it
@nitchdesigns96622 жыл бұрын
The liners on these initial production units were polished which resulted in a slick thumb release, but future production batches will be blasted/stoned instead for a grippier texture and more pronounced chamfer making it easier to disengage the lock.

I purchased this knife about 5 days ago and had the wooden scale crack right below the liner lock cut out. Had the knife replaced through Amazon with a new one and now the new one has unpolished liners with a thicker liner lock. But now the new one has a unfinished rough sanded spine that looks jagged. Man I really love this knife but no response yet from artisan after emailing them.

I got the g-10 version and did thumbstud and poon delete. It's near perfection, I'm thinking about doing a finger choil but I'm worried about losing some of the blade edge. It's a great knife for the price.

Would love to see how that turned out!

I got the wood version, and the mod I think it really needs is some gimping on the liner lock. But I'm holding off till I pick up some cheap diamond files to do a clean job.

Got this and definitely like it but it feels a bit “cheap” or flimsy to me for some reason. Definitely need locktite on the pivot though because it walks all over the place and centering does not stay dead nuts at all. Aside from that it’s very sliced and love the RPM9 steel!

Lots of great knives coming out of cjrb and artisan. I hope you review more.

A great knife for sure!! I love it! Unfortunately the one I ordered had bad quality control. Mainly on the blade, had a lot of scratches and had a weird stain that just doesn’t want to come off. I use the knife and I understand it’ll get damaged the more I use it. But when you buy something new you expect it to come with no flaws. Unfortunate but still a great knife that I can recommend. I don’t regret buying it at all 👍 especially for the price.

I suspect the wood would be too soft to tighten the pivot screw against it. The wood would get crushed easily and problems would quickly ensue. I guess they could have cut an access hole for the pivot screw but that would have changed the aesthetic.
@redrebelleader-74952 жыл бұрын
The liners look like fish / whale bones? Maybe that’s why they have a design aesthetic of the “scales” being over the rest of the “internals”. 🤷🏻♂️ Clever - if they were going for that understanding - seeing as how the knife is the Ahab.

I have a review on the great white. Shape and dimensions are completely different. It's also a framelock with a thumb hole. Truthfully I'm not sure which element could be similar.
