This quickly became my work knife for cutting heavy plastic bands on pallets. I've broken several other "quality" knives at work (looking at you Ritter Hogue mini).

My coworker showed me his larger version. I really liked the way it felt. Sweet budget knife. I wish they would make these with different blade configurations.

I love the Proponent, one of my fav knives. I wish they would bring back the ti with Damascus and timascus clip. I would love a Medford Panzer but this is more affordable..

Don’t ask why but I have the bigger beefy one and gotta tell ya I love it. My spyderco and benchmades stay home now. I’ll probably get a few more and the smaller ones as well

Interesting take on this little beast, MC! I've been looking at the full-size Proponent, and had one question...In terms of ruggedness/robustness for, say, heavy cardboard cutting, would the full-size version be as robust as, say, a Cold Steel AD15 Lite? Thank you.

You can use a flat-blade screwdriver on the logo to loosen the pivot. It's not too hard to do, I did it with both of my Proponents and they came apart fairly easily.

I sanded the pivot and machined a flat head cause the washers at least for me attract sand or small debris and the screw made it difficult to maintain.

DISCLAIMER: I am 100% a couch warrior and the hardest use my knives see is opening packages/blister packs. Nothing cracks me up more than seeing a super big and/or thick blade with a thin liner. If you're gonna "overbuild" the knife like it's some 2014 ZT, then do it all the way!

You could walk into any garage and maintain that knife with the tools that you will find there; however, only a knife snob (me included) will reliably have a T6 AND T8 on hand...

Hah! I just watched your video on why you like Medford Knives last night and immediately thought this was a Chinese Medford clone! Short, stubby, tall and thick blades, and lots of ovals. Very much the design language of a Medford just like the "camel hump" of a Spyderco.

This knife puts any $250 benchmade to shame. I think it's overbuilt for a reason, it can take an excessive amount of abuse, without failing and the design is totally unique, unlike most knifes. Been my EDC for a while, it is heavy but I actually like that. The liner lock is stiff to start with but soon breaks in nicely.

I have the copper full sized and I've only dropped it twice. It gashed my thumb and scratched on down to my wrist and then I dropped it while sitting in a chair, point down and ouch. It seems that I'd like the mini over the full size and do NOT suggest the copper, brass or bronze

I bought the full size Proponent as one of my first "premium brand" purchases. There is so much wrong with this knife - weight, size, carry, blade stock, edge thickness, pocket clip and THE WORST ergonomics. The pivot is LocTited shut and I've never been able to disassemble it. I had to sand down and chamfer all the edges so i didn't blister my hands when using it regularly. BUT I LOVE IT !! Reading all the comments, I'm obviously not the only crazy fan...

The blade geometry actually looks like a longer blade that was broken off.

I have the all black one. No lock stick on mine. It is a cumbersome knife. And definitely a novelty knife. But I like pulling it out when my buddies ask to borrow my knife. The look on their face is priceless. Lol.

It just doesn’t look very comfortable to me. I do like the way it looks, but I doubt I would carry a knife that I wouldn’t want to use hard.
