Maton EBG 808C TE vs. MicFix

Hello! Here's Jesse to go through the ins and outs of the Maton EBG 808C Tommy Emmanuel and Michael Fix guitars. Both guitars feature the same Queensland Maple back and sides, same AAA Sitka Spruce top woods (the TE has an aging toner which makes it look different), but different binding materials. The ebony fretboard and blackwood outer binding make the difference for me. The Michael Fix model sounds brighter and sweeter with a longer ringing sustain. I imagine that many guitar players shopping for a Maton guitar are having a hard time choosing between these two fine Australian guitars. It is true that both guitars sound top notch when amplified but the Michael Fix model has the edge for me. This video has been very helpful, the funny man that is. I found a brand new Maton Michael Fix model for a bargain price on an online music shop in Exeter today - and I hit the pay button after a short chat on the phone with their sales person. Worth noticing that the late 2023/24 Michael Fix model has been up-grated from Dunlop 6260 to Jescar 43080 Nickel Silver 19% fret wire. I bet this little up-grate will add to the sound of this fine signature guitar as well, probably only noticeable to a 72 year old guitar geek like myself. Thank you Jesse at Artisian Guitars! Ed

Was very surprised at how noticeable the difference is. I prefer the TE, but it's definitely a personal preference thing.

Frank Zappa once asked „does humor belong in music?“ You guys answer this question in such a funny way . I always enjoy your stile! Btw both guitars need to be amplified and the Ap5 pro helps a lot to get an impressive sound .

Thanks for doing this. You'll need to change your description since both have the same top wood. The Michael Fix model sounds a touch brighter but maybe that's just me. Very little difference to my ears. I have the Michael FIx model and love it!

Jeepers, that binding really does have an impact on the overall tone signature of an acoustic guitar.! All joking aside.. lets not forget the fretboard material and the difference between these two models. Ebony vs rosewood..??

i've just finished going through my guitar collection on my channel which includes an EBG808TE (not cutaway) and i'm a lousy player, i do a lot of talking though. what i noticed is that if it's not in concert pitch it's dead, get it in concert pitch and it's a fabulous guitar, but for whatever reason, it prefers being in tune.
