Whichever you're used to and remember best is the best option for sure.

That's fair. If it works for you it works. To be honest I more made this video as people kept saying that it didn't need to be done this way and it's easier to link to a video of why I prefer it than to type it out every time 😅

I completely forgot about the hard ops version, if I take a week away from blender when I come back I have to remember all the little things in hard ops and box cutter
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
Yeah it does a LOT to help with little (and some pretty big) things to make life easier.

You can also do this by using the inset function, just press i and hold ctrl!! Also gives you a few more options, like giving the extrusion a slant
@PrefoX Жыл бұрын
you have to go into xray mode just for selection, there are addons to mitigate that problem so you can always select through. that saves more time than everything :D
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
I have found one (power select) but don't want to cause confusion using it. Do you know any others?
@DiThi10 ай бұрын
I always use Z to toggle between solid and wireframe. In wireframe by default it selects through so I just have to press Z, select, press Z again. At least with the classic keymap, I'm not sure if it's like that in the modern one.

Anything for blender 4? The ones I use broe
@DiThi9 ай бұрын
@@sherlockhomes9919 You don't need addons for that, see my previous comment in this thread. Notice how there's a toggle x-ray selection button next to the shading methods on the upper right corner, and note how it's enabled by default in wireframe mode and disabled in solid mode. You just have to toggle between wireframe and solid (Z key).

Why not press alt when extrude along normal? Instead of clicking the operator box.

Great comment man! I should have spotted that but I have gone all this time in Blender not knowing thats an option. I'm going to add that in the description so people dont miss it. Thanks for sharing.👍

Nice tip👌🏼👍🏻 That's more clicks than just using Hard Ops but for people without Hard Ops (and for my own knowledge) that's really appreciated. Thanks 😁👍🏻

The only issue that I have with HOs version, and this may be just my ignorance, is that it doesn't leave you with a... after the fact menu, like the native tool does.
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
I can see that. I imagine its the way the functions are executed that mean you can't. I cant say I have had much of an issue with it but I could see why it would annoy. The main reason (I would guess) it doesnt have them is all of the options are active as you use the tool. Where in some of the native Blender tools you use that menu to activate some of the options. So (in theory) the HO tools don't need it.

Quick question... How can you specify the Depth numerically using Hard Ops? I can't understand the onscreen instructions. For Depth, it indicates using the mouse. So, is there no way to do it numerically?

I'm new to blender. How do you select the faces behind the visable faces? For me it only selects half of the faces around the cilinder, the one that is visable..

It's a paid for addon called Hard Ops. You can get it here (I'd get it with Box Cutter too as they both are amazing together and it's discounted when getting them together: Hard Ops and Boxcutter discount bundle: blendermarket.com/products/hard-ops--boxcutter-ultimate-bundle/?ref=834 Hard Ops: blendermarket.com/products/hardopsofficial/?ref=834
