painting black models. Like deathwatch, black templars or similar. Somthing that has black as a base colour and some highlights. Honestly I've been struggling with my deathwatch for a while and don't like the result.

This reminds me of back in the 90's when graphic designers were using Photoshop and Kai's Power Tools to create 2d representations of neon, metal, fire, and water for web pages. I just channel me from 30 years ago and I don't have an issue doing NMM and OSL.

I have some Tau battlesuits still in the box and the main thing stoping me from painting them was the daunting feeling of just lashing metallic paint all over them and trying to pull the shine back with Nuln Oil. This is such a cleaner way of doing them and honestly might have to get some new Brushes to do it ;)

I am visiting London in the next week, is there any retail store that i can buy your brushes?
@ArtisOpus2 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, check in 'Bad Moon Cafe'. If they've ran out tell them to get a restock order in! If you're in Stockport/Sheffield/Nottingham/Birmingham for any reason they all have an Element Games, which carries high stock levels
@fraserskomorowski23112 ай бұрын
Does using the metallic paint with the Series D brush contaminate it for the future? Do you find flecks in the finish of subsequent paint jobs? Those little mica/aluminium flecks usually wreck any natural hair bristle detail brushes. Have you seen any deterioration in the hog bristles of the dry brush?
@BinxyBrown2 ай бұрын
When you are dry brushing like this you use so little paint you also brush almost all of it out at the end using the dampening pad. I've never had a metallic paint contaminate in any noticeable way
@ArtisOpus2 ай бұрын
Binxy has answered this fantastically! What he said. If you don't overload the brush and you keep it at the tips you simply completely avoid the root cause of the problems... all the while helping your drybrushing stay smooth and your brushes last forever! We have cleaning coming as a video by the way, this is covered specifically.

Can this drybrushing method be used on models with different materials. For example, I'd like to do this for my men of Gondor. Would you do all the armour parts first and then go onto the cloth and skin etc? Cheers

How would you do a warm gold like for hammers of sigmar stormcast? I’m guessing retributor, doombull, agrax and reikland fleshshade? Any others?

Toss that Vallejo bottle into a sonic cleaner with Purple Power. Use some acetone on a round makeup pad to wipe the adhesive off. And get some reverse grip tweezers and a cotton ball to wipe out the interior and you have a reusable bottle.
@Redux5150Ай бұрын
What did you use to strip the paint off in that container?!
@ArtisOpusАй бұрын
Biostrip :). We have a video on my first use of it (that very tub) on the channel from 3 years back. I'm only now due a replacement. best hoppy spend in the last decade for me, I love it, I'd get the litre one, you can just drop stuff in it: elementgames.co.uk/search?q=biostrip

Funny, i started my Iron Snakes Space Marines this week. Mostly the way i do, but i added a black oilwash in between.
@andrej65042 ай бұрын
Another mix with a similar effect is a black ink mixed with a contrast medium. The ink does not dull the modell metal matt like a nuln oil.

I have to admit that I (and many others) encountered that when u not rattle-can your prime, the chances huge parts will not stick (especially if you actually playing with the model) is very likely. I‘m not the biggest rattlecan fan, I love my airbrush and had really fun priming with it, anyhow it must be something in the solvents and additives in a can what makes the very first layer really stick that way. I hate it that I even slightley loosing detail with it, and sometimes I hate the „satin“ texture it gave every other layer on top of it.

The brushes are great but find that they shrink in size with use. I emailed them about this and never got a response, but only noticed it when i ordered a new brush. My used one was so much shorter and you couldn't' really lightly brush with them anymore. My new one also already showing same symptoms and have only had it for a few months. I you have the brush case, you can see they made room for what the brush size should be, mine don't even come close to filling their designated spots .

Between the constant moving of the model and the light shining directly on it and reflecting, making the colors really hard to see, this video is really difficult to follow.
