I'm not so sure about the wires, I thought this was a bigger version of the rapid reflector for speed lights that is bendable. Obviously that one would need more support like these wires, but something about this design tells me that this could be simply a series of panels that folds out with strong enough exterior metal lining to keep it secure. I do like it and of course cost is everything but the wires still give me a bit of pause. It is totally awesome that the ability to use it as a side reflector that's great.

SMDV has put a lot of R&D in to this rod system. Nothing to worry about there. It comes with a standard one year warranty.

Close but not a finished product. What I mean is the flip open component is interesting, fast, works well, the 4 spines stay attached and open to form a stiff surface, cool. However, the base plate is a joke; the notion that the ball head is 4 parts that has to be assembled (and disassembled) each time to use it is counter-productive. While only partially demonstrated in this video, the product site clearly shows ball head, connector, washer, and thumb screw (four parts) in order to connect to the base plate. As a location photographer, loose parts are lost parts. Hope the next version of the product is better.

Ah you are missing the point here, ball head is a one time thing and I just leave it on. And it is a complete product. No loose parts here. cheers
