]Sarbani was born in 1975 in Durgapur (West Bengal, India) and has been based in the Lion City since 2002. She is armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts via a scholarship from the famed Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta). Having had participated in several group art exhibitions in Singapore, India, Malaysia and Hong Kong for the past eleven years, Sarbani's first solo art exhibition was successfully presented in July 2010 at The Gallery of Gnani Arts in Singapore. Her paintings, which can be found in private collections in Europe and Southeast Asia, were well-received at international art fairs such as the Art Expo Malaysia (2010 and 2012), the Affordable Art Fair Singapore (2012) and the Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong (2012).
Under the theme of Mother and Child, a painting by Sarbani was selected as 'The Painting of 2005' at the Gnani Arts Awards 2005 in Singapore. This Award was consequential as the vital force that triggered Sarbani's dexterous infatuation with the ever-appealing concept of Mother and Child.
Furthermore, one cannot help but identify the compelling manner in which Sarbani effulgently orchestrates another favourite theme within her paintings, the Tree of Life, together with the timeless Mother and Child. it comes as no surprise that the immaculate lady that Sarbani often portrays in her paintings usually serves as an iconographic extension of herself on her very own canvas. It is intriguing to note that, in her paintings, Sarbani symbolically rules as the undaunted advocate of her innermost thoughts, opinions, desires and goals.

It is a wonderful initiative to let us hear driect from the Creator! It helps us to understand and explore the beautifully complex but powerfully simple mental process that flows and playes within their mind and comes out in the form of such creations! I am huge fan of Mrs. Sarbani Bhattacharya and I would personally love to see and hear more and more from her regarding her amazing creations like Maya Debi....Thanks for this interview!
