2013 Randy had a major stroke . He was on a ventilator n doctor's said there was only a 2 % chance he would live. His devoted wife Mary went to his bedside n asked him if he wanted to fight to stay alive n he squeezed her hand n the rest is history, He went thru many years of rehab but lost function to his right side n aphasia. Now they are using AI with country singer James Dupre who provided the ' vocal bed' Randy himself doesn't sing but gives his input in the song along with his long time manager. Randy has 7 Grammy Awards, 11 ACM Awards 10 American Music Awards 2 People's Choice Awards,7 Music CityNews Awards n 8 Dove Awards from Gospel. Some of his songs are " Forever and ever Amen"Digging Up Bones"Three Wooden Crosses" Depper Than The Holler"😊 I'm not fond of AI but in Randy's case it is used in the right way. You can tell he loves getting back into his music. See him smiling n laughing again makes us happy for him. In this video he is the man sitting in the red wheelchair. Randy has faith that is why he has gotten thru many up's n downs in his life. I love your reaction❤

That's right...AI took Randy's vocal signature from 42 of his pre-strong songs/performances and overlaid it onto the vocal "scaffolding" provided by James Dupre.

Randy Travis also starred in the television series, "Matlock" 2 or 3 different times with Andy Griffith, and Randy is also in the movie with Patrick Swazey called, "Black Dog". He also did a video of one of his songs that had Chuck Norris in it, he was wrestling with him and when you thought Randy had Chuck pinned down to the ground, Chuck Norris always surprised Randy by turning it around and trapping Randy to the ground, lol. Yes I really miss him being active, when he had his DANGEROUS STROKE that almost killed him back in 2013, I cried so hard and in shock. Thank you for sharing his new song with us and God Bless.

Randy travis was a VERY popular country music singer, but he suffered a stroke in 2013, losing his ability to speak and make the music he loved this was his first release in about 10-12 years

Randy is from Marysville NC. This song was written before his stroke. This is AI generated. But it is his voice. It was generated with his consent. Randy started in 1985. Look him up. He has really good music.

I'm glad you listened to the mysterious call that made you give this track a try. You happened to find a piece of history without even realising it! That's magical. This recently released track is from a man who, sadly, can't sing or speak any more - his voice taken away from him . This is his gift: AI today has re-created his voice. It's phenomenol that AI can take his old vocals and come up with a voice, phrasing style and sound that is reflective of him. I am in two minds - ibeautiful lyrics, conveyed elegantly, sweet sound and the Randy Travis tone, but it's not entirely him. Overall, though, I love it.

Most reactors are pleasantly surprised when they start digging into country music. They tend to have a preset view of what cpuntry music sounds like. But country music has such variety, many subgenres. Randy is of the traditionalist subgenre. Country music has gone in cycles and it had gotten into a very pop period. It was not bad country pop, we had some greats come out of that period. Then Randy came along, grabbed country music by the throat and dragged it, willingly, back into the tradionalist style. Many more followed and we had a wonderful period of neotraditionalist country music. I am not totally sure about other genres of music, and I dont know if current country is like this, but coutry music is like one big hige family. Most of them develop deep friendships with other artists. They help each other out. They mentor new artist coming up. Part of this is because of the Grand Ole Opry. This is a long running show on the radio, in addition to the live audience. Appearing on the Opry has neen a rite of passage for generations. Becoming invited to become a member is a huge honor. The radio show brought country music to millions in the early years. And it allowed the stars to interact on a frequent basis. Oh there were rivalries and squables, but that happens in any family. No matter how high they got, they were still people. So sit back and get ready to find a rich field of great music that you never dreamed existed.

@@GeorgeTheCloud I am 72. Been listening to it all my life. My parents had other music they listened to, as did we, but country was the mainstay. Thing about country is that it is multi-generatioal music. We didnt have fights over music in our house because we all loved the same thing. I remember the last Alan Jackson concert I went to, I noticed we had all ages in the audience, from old folks in wheel chairs to toddlers, and everything in-between.

@@GeorgeTheCloud Marty Robbins is a must listen for any journey through country music. There was a time when country was know as country and western. Western was an important sub genre of country music in the early years, and Marty was a huge part of that. But Marty was extremely talented and could sing anything. He recorded pop night life music, traditional country, western, and even Pacific island music. El Paso was a mega hit and is still beloved today. In fact, Marty eventually wrote and recorded 3 songs, all part of this same story line. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIjQZop7p9CZnLMsi=eUvya9BlNiaMoepx

I hear ya Billy. The thing is country music is pretty specific genre and since it's not my favorite then I usually don't seek it out. Precisely for the same reason that I listen to music from all over the world, in different genres and styles, then country music gets left behind I'm afraid, but it doesn't mean I won't give it a shot!

I guess in this case it's fair to use AI, but there will be a lot of gray areas in the future, we can already see how AI is shaking up the music industry. It's hard to tell where to draw the line.

They used AI technology to help him release brand-new material a decade after a stroke robbed him of his voice. Normally I'd agree that it's okay to let the comments section educate you after the reaction, but in this case, the story behind the song is the heart of it. Just 2 or 3 minutes of research could've really helped you with context and give you a powerful, emotional connection to it. Now that you know a little more about him, I think you might enjoy hearing some of his classic hits.

I have tried to get that point across to some naysayers who won’t listen just because it is AI assisted. Randy was involved all the way through, and you can just see how happy it was making him. And the joy he got wen h saw the look on the faces of his fellow artist friends….. Clay Walker was nearly in tears.
