1. Define success in a way you can control it. a. Try your hardest. b. Check where you are heading. c. Expect bumps/obstacles. 2. Behave like the successful version of yourself. 3. Keep moving forward.

You're incredibly inspiring... there were nights when I cried because of how horrible I thought my art was; I thought I'd stay mediocre forever. Thanks so much. Will definitely be watching your videos whenever I feel like I can't draw. Thanks again I wish you all the best

Thank you for another great talk! I've been working really hard and doing my best to save some money and afford a few classes on Schoolism, since technique and professional advice is what I need most now. I feel almost too old to be a beginner, but I surely don't lack dedication and I hope that will be enough

Hello, Bobby! I am an independent artist ( a starter ), and I've been searching for months now for videos or posts like these. It is very hard to start and hearing some encouraging words form an experienced artist always helps to get on the right path. Since I started, I had many "bumps on my road" and less success, also started to feel doubt in myself, if I will ever be a successful artist ( or even if anyone is interested in what I do ), but watching your videos puts me back on my feet and now I feel that if it is not enough what I do, than I will do twice as much, and work even harder but I will not give up my dreams. Thank you so much for sharing these videos! ...and by the way, I love those little creatures, they are so adorable! :) I would paint them all along the apartment so that wherever I go I see them and make me smile even in hard times... Have a beautiful day!

Hi Bobby thank you for this talk. " Do what your successful version of you would do", having this perception in mind and using it daily to guide you is key. And for anyone who practices this will gradually start believing in themselves and choose to become their higher self.

My freshman year of college I never worked so hard in my life and life threw a few bricks at me. I was rejected from the illustration program at my college because the first time ever they had 40 applicants and there's only 18 seats in the classes. I applied to graphic design, which has 40 seats, as well as illustration. I got in graphic design, but I was heartbroken that I was rejected from the program I truly wanted. This created a lot of self doubt that I'm still struggling with. However, life kinda threw me a bone as well because I was offered an illustration class that's not a requirement to the major technically. We work with great professionals as our mentors creating projects that we would actually probably do in the work world. I recently found out that this class was only offered to 4 students that were rejected because they would have been accepted, but some other people had better promising portfolios that they couldn't turn down. I was one of the 4 students. Roughly the second or first choice on the list. Life threw another bone because I may be able to take an animation class that's not normally offered to us, and I wouldn't be able to take that class even if I did get into illustration because the class times are in the way.... so in a strange turn of events I have been given choices that I wouldn't have even though I did lose something else, but I still have a chance at getting back what I lost. So, even though life decided to throw some bricks at me, it also threw me a bone or two - and I get to learn some graphic design along the way too - I think it might all work out. I hope. Now, back to work. 👍🏼

I have a friend (that happens to be my editor) that when I'm struggling with choices she always tell me to choose the one that will help me to go forward to what I want. Also, there it's this idea I think is so true that, if things were easy everyone will be doing them. So, after all the effort it feels wonderful to finish a goal!

Hi Booby Chiu, I just recently got to know your job and what you do and I must say you are a great inspiration source to me. Even though you are a very talented artist, you are also a great motivatior to us artists who struggle to find a way up to where we feel comfortable with ourselves, our art and our path towards what we dream as a carrer. I would like to ask with it is possible for me to help you translate some of your videos (as much as I can manage with my schedules) to portuguese. I find myself very lucky to know english as a second language but here in Brazil most of us don't share this luck, so as I way to share you message and inspiration, I thought I could do that and incorporate your videos on personal blog (recently started blog) where I can bring inspirational and art related messages. I hope to hear back from you about that. Thank you very much.

I don't know where you came up with that idea I actually have to much confidence in my art that is why I play it to a live audience everyday if I had self doubt for one I wouldn't promote it too I would find another project to do and there I would stop collaborating with successful musicians not only am I gifted but I have already been labeled one of the best musicians in the world so before you want to get critical make sure you have the facts I am always open to feed back even constructive criticism so be mindful of what you are presenting to millions of people my words are always in the spotlight I wish you luck in your KZbin fame

This is great advice for most people, but if you have or think you might have a mental illness, these tips will probably not be enough or even makes things worst. You might be able to muscle through with "hard work," but it won't be healthy in the long run. You'll need to address your self-doubt through your mental health first.

I would say there's some truths but misleading info on this video. Working hard doesn't always guaranteed success, and certain obstacles on the road to becoming better can actually cost you your life. The problem is, even if you draw 6+ hours a day, within 3 years there's actually a large chance you may see no improvement. Some people are just not cut out for drawing and some have to learn that the hard way, sadly.
