The shyness point is helpful to people for sure! It reminds me of when I first started college. If I didn't go out of my way to make friends then I probably wouldn't have any as I came from far away and just had the freshest start. My thought process went like this: "if someone started talking to me, then I would talk back to them! It's just hard to be the one who talks first" so this made me realize that I had to be the person who talked first, because there had to be people like me who wanted to talk to others but was too shy to start. If they would look at me funny then I guess they weren't meant to be my friend. And, that's how I made a bunch of friends! Now, it just comes naturally to talk to others that I don't know. Sometimes I feel unsecure, but mostly, I run with this new personality I was able to develop for myself because that's who I like to be!

I'm 27 right now and hearing this really enlightens me and reminds me why I never stopped drawing and dreaming of creating. I've always had my ups and downs and ruts thinking at times I've fallen way behind with art but the back of my mind always told me to keep going forward no matter how long it takes and hearing these words expressed through you gives me a huge boost to the momentum I'm gaining now especially with schoolism. I thought I'd never get into art school or anything but now I'm in and it only feels like a matter of time. Thanks!

Gosh im speechless... It’s as if this video was ment for me or something! Being 21 and barely getting into the world of animation (litteraly im just learning how to draw) and being in community college for already 2 years i have felt like i haven't gotten anywhere with myself. And lately I have been putting myself down over the same questions . "Why do this? Aren't you to old? How will you pay the bills?can you take care of yourself and your family?" I am willing to go for this i dont know where ill end or how this will play out but i want to go for this. Thank you for making this video

Im 21 yeras old, and this video has helped me a lot thank you bobby, one of my biggest struggles is will power, i had exercised my will power in other things beginning small, and when i accomplished my goal, i though i had developed my will power, and when i tried to use it in a different task i couldn't get it to work, but now because of you video I realize willpower is not a whole, but its divided and not all tasks use the same kind of will power, just sharing this because it was really hard for me to get this... hahha thank you so much!!! ill begin small with this new task!

When I attended art school way back when, our freshmen drawing class was 5 hours long. Same with our painting and sculpture classes. I found that it was really about halfway through the third hour that I got into the right headspace and felt myself fully immersed, fully present to the art, fully engaged, and working at the top of my abilities. But yes, in drawing, we had short breaks every 20 minutes, longer breaks after 90 minutes and an hour for lunch. It would have been smart to follow this same pattern in our painting and sculpture classes, as well.

I wish I watched these three years ago. Before I came to my current living place in Louisville, KY. I was doodling and sketching all the time. Now I can't put a line on a blank page. Well said Bobby 😎 Back in the 70's my original career choice was to become a university Art Teacher. Through high school my art teachers thought this would be something I could do. So, I began by taking a 2 year Applied Arts program at Okanagan College in Kelowna, BC. Back then I was so excited to learn more about technique skills in drawing, sharpening my experience. But as I started my program, the teachers back then were about : feel your passion, draw what you feel, express your idea. It wasn't anything about techniques, which I find a extremely important bases or foundation. Throughout college I taught myself West Coastal Native Art, feverishly studying the design and culture of the First Nations People. What happened, I grew in two level design and never ever accomplished the fine drawing of realism art, cuz it was never taught. The other whammy was my Art work was never recognized by the First Nations People or by local art sellers, simply because I was not native.
