Hello there! As promised, today we present you the second part of two of our artist spotlight on Gerhard Richter. For this part we have made a selection of his abstract paintings from his Catalogue Raisonné. What do you think of Richter's extensive body of abstract works. And even more, which do you prefer, his abstract paintings or his photo paintings?

Gerhard Richter is a favorite among living contemporary artists of contemporary art! I was at his exhibitions in Prague and Nuremberg, I was very impressed by the technique of execution and the size of the canvases. I like his abstract paintings more, as well as earlier work, landscapes and also a candle - very atmospheric.

I agree, I saw his works several times at Tate, Pompidou and SMAK Ghent and was utterly impressed by his technique, both with his abstracts and photo paintings. His abstracts are so rich in texture, colour, nuance, and scale. Terrific artist

BRILLIANT VIDEO CLIP ... paced just about right, painterly music, MUSIC, in paint, loved the relaxed feeling of emotionally connecting to the work😅

Many of these images seem to be hopelessly out of focus. Is that the issue or are they actually in focus?
@contemporaryartissue3 жыл бұрын
Many of these images have a blurry effect due to the manner they are painted. Think of the haze that hovers on top of his photo paintings. However, some of them are simply photographed in a bad resolution as they were painted and sold many years ago.

It is hard to look at this fabulous work and only see parts at a time the totality is hard to see and what shame that is

I believe he has painted over a thousand abstract paintings. The totality is immense, and this is only his abstract work.

I really don't understand where is the art in these pictures. It is pity that I can't make similar picture and mix it with presented collection. I am sure that nobody will recognize my picture. This test will prove that abstract paint is not the art forever.
