It should make drawing fun and more interesting. Also controlling robot arm's movements are complicated and the simplicity of this robot shows us what can already be achieved. Interesting.

If it's built a bit more robust it could be a great handwriting teacher. Let the student hold the pen while the bot guides it so that the kid gets used to the motion. Or better yet, let the bot provide some 'pushback' tactile feeling while the child is writing, kinda like if the lines had barriers around them.
@supercat48823 жыл бұрын
Remote surgery already practised. Teaching kids to do something (writing, drawing) from remote location using bionic/robotic arm is much easier and achieveable. more useful for physiotherapy - strengthening arm muscle with repeated simulation of movement. Or for stimulating brain tissue wih psychomotor movement for traumatised patient.

I'm actually really impressed with the little robot and the people behind it! The robot is presented as an open source project with the ability to use the arm not only as a drawing mechanism, but something you can program for other uses - like playing little little keyboards. They say on their website that, "Line-us has an easy interface to talk to Scratch, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Python and Processing," which are all the common tools for introducing programming and microcontrollers. It seems like the intent behind the robot isn't perfect drawings, but a community that can learn about programming and dream up new ideas and uses for it. The fact that they share their source code and have it fairly well documented shows that the robot is not intended to be a big business, but a learning tool and a way to connect with friends - which is super exciting for me with friends that live far away, or I can't see due to the pandemic. It encourages people to have fun and be creative while learning, and to connect over the simple joys of art, games, and music making! I would have killed to have something like this when I was a young girl finding my interests in STEM, and I can see it being an exciting hands on way to introduce people to programming. It has a similar thrill that 3D printing, laser cutting, or building projects brings. Simply put, I'm a fan. :) Thanks for showing this to me Jazza!
