SO much wasted time. Something else I've always said: they're able to flash a constant stream of sports scores across the bottom of the screen during any sporting event. Would it really be so hard to have a scroll of scores? Like if we're watching a routine and a score from a prior competitor or another apparatus comes through..... SHOW IT. 😠😠😠😠

The USA thought that they had won the bronze medal, but some other team brought it to the attention of the officials that she did not move out of the way and did not remove the mount with her. Of course immediately after the objection was lodged, if I remember correctly, it was upheld and the USA lost the bronze medal in the team competition. The fact that no one ever talks about how graceful Seda Tutkhalian of Russia is (Or Aly Raisman on floor), is proof that most of the calls for "grace" and "artistry" are really about a body type preference in gymnastics.
@erinmccargar76074 жыл бұрын
I totally agree! I started noticing a pattern where “grace” and “artistry” are always associated with skinny gymnasts with long legs (Khorkina, Komova, Nastia, etc.) and I was always confused. I personally think Khorkina is VERY awkward in her movements. Then I realized that they were really just talking about body type. Even Ana Pavlova (one of the most graceful gymnasts I’ve ever seen) was not usually called graceful
@eurekamreum54584 жыл бұрын
While I agree to a certain extent, I'd say Mustafina was the most graceful of them all and she didn't have that exact body type. Same thing with Spiridonova's QF FX, a really skinny gymnast with long, beautiful legs but her routine was just tragic, not graceful at all. I believe it's a combination of body type, musicality, expression and skills.

Isn’t that Aly’s floor music (1:04:43), while she’s doing her beam routine?? What a coincidence that someone would have the same music and that they would be completing their floor while she was on the beam 😳😍

Its amazing the huge contrast in the reactions to silver from this Russian team vs 2012. Seemed like they have a lot more positive and good sports this time.

Remember the year they were so mad to get 2nd? They took those medals off immediately. They were awful sports that year. That was the same year the vault was not the right height.
@onyxrose814 жыл бұрын
The 2012 team on paper should have been neck and neck with the US. The 2016 team knew there was no chance for gold so silver was basically winning, since they could have been pushed down if GB and a few of the other teams had gotten their act together.
@siwonsarmpithair19204 жыл бұрын
The gold was within their reach in London, but they messed up so bad at the last part. That's why they were devastated and cried. This time, they did well and no major mistakes so yea, they probably satisfied.

Aly is so adorable, she was such a great leader and mom to team, when Simone said “what you said Aly?” (at the 2:20:00 mark) and Aly said she thinks it would be cute to hold the medal up to their ear. I heard her say “hold it up” to them when it was time… it looked so cute and they all did so well. Can’t wait for this year’s!

I don't like Paseka's vaulting style but she really did come through to secure her team's silver medal! One of my favorite moments of the entire competition
@saragrant9749 Жыл бұрын
What secured their medal- silver in particular- was the fact that they just stayed steady and focused, didn’t let a fall on beam slow them and then- as you mentioned- capped with Maria hitting her crucial vault. That’s how it’s done!

Know what I'm BORED WITH?! I SWEAR... ever since poor Alicia S's fall when she attempted her very difficult mount onto beam & started the USA's downward spiral in Beijing towards losing the team gold to China.... Doesn't it seem like most of these girls DONT bother even taking SMALL chances when mounting the beam?! I understand nerves and just wanting to get up there and start & not worry about having to nail a super difficult mount from the very start... But pffft. It's BOOOORING!!! Everyone just kinda hops up there from the floor or jumps up from the side or end from the trampoline!! No one even does unique, but perhaps less tricky mounts like Nastia's where she would mount from the side and go straight into a handstand & splits... I don't think any of these girls did any sort of REALLY "difficult" beam mounts?! BOOOOO! I wanna see somr CARNAGE SOMETIMES, DANG IT!!! COME ONNNN!!!
