Every artist should at least TRY broaching into other styles. I drew My Little Pony fanart obsessively for YEARS and even though I don't draw anything remotely like it now, I dread to think what my art would look like if I hadn't gone through that phase. I can also confirm the best colour palettes I've ever seen came from fursonas and MLP fanart, those guys are insane when it comes to somehow making the most saturated 90s nightmare mess of colours not only look good but look GREAT
