Please please please don't harras any artist after watching this video. I can't stress enough. The purpose of this video is not harras anybody but just help people understand that it is not ok to copy paste other people's work and release it as yours. And at this point, I really don't know what to do and hoping that this video may help avoid situations like this in the future. 🔴UPDATE: I've talked with Exx Recordings and as suspected, they were not aware of the situation. They told me that they filled the take down request to their distributor and song will be taken down in few days.

Stop sharing Project Files.... People will not learn from it anyway if its just in their project . Your videos are awesome and if people are motivated to learn, the can follow the videos, stop it and rebuild it. Thats also where you really learn - by doing not just by seeing in the project. There are many people out there which want to go the easy way - it´s like the DJ´s who play a DJ Set from someone else and turn the buttons for show. They dont care about creating - they want the fame without the process. Shut down your Patreon, stop sharing your project files. This will reduce your income but it will protect your work a lot .

You did well to share this video and make these statements. I hope it will encourage others to think twice. Also, you're not harassing anyone ! you did the right thing for them and for others. However, please refrain from calling them 'artists,' because if they want to be considered as such, they should at least respect one another. Don't stress you are humble enough.

This happened to me! 2010, I was 1 if just 2 places who created templates. I later found out, for every template I put out that i did not release. Another producer 'obviously just learning' , was taking my templates, and just exporting them! And stealing my interlectual property! Not even editing arrangment! t pains me to think this can happen. Those who do this should be named and shamed. Its NOT okay. Anyway, I just wanted to say I stand with you, and you arent alone in this. Its very unjust. The worst thing, Is the way I found out. I was issued a copytight notice on youtube. For my OWN production template. I made a video 'what I was making 10 years ago'. And I was sent a dmca! For a template I made 11 years prior! It left a bad taste in my mouth and truly discouraged me from producing. Nowadays, I save ALL my good productions. And if someone wants to hear my music, Im afraid they will just have to wait until they see me live. Thats how it made me feel inside anyway. And, I really do keep a lot of music off social media. Not just original music. But please, be more careful with what you share. Its an unfortunate reality that there are some producers who just dont care or know how things should be. And they dont expect any response. Anyway, Wishing you well. Stay strong.

Recently someone copied the first 1:30 minutes of my song to Spotify. My song was released 7 years ago. and now claimed copyright against my original song which is 3:40 minutes long! I contested and they declined. It should be the other way around. It's the most unethical behaviour. Nothing I could do.

A true artist puts his or her soul in their creation. It is not just applying techniques. It is putting in your emotion, your feeling and entire being. True artist do not pursue money or fame. Fakers (most of music producers today) are pursuing fame and money… they are not artist. Just *ssholes.

Times have changed! Managers are booking DJs based on social media followers rather than talent. The problem, but is good for promoters, is that it guarantees people will turn up. I know many promoters who booked incredible trance Djs during the 90s for gigs, only to have a handful of people turn up. They would lose so much money its crazy. Nowadays, you can avoid that by booking a faker!

Well, I had situation with my personal blog which was even more frustrating. Websites offer their content via RSS, so you can read it in News Readers. The same with my blog. And I came across the situation that some random dude iported the whole content of my blog into a different website and sold it as his own content. The only way to stop this was to involve a lawyer as the dude was absolutely unreasonable. I know it's annoying, but I think the only points you can do is talk to the dude who is stealing and if no action contact your lawyer.

In early 2000s I sat with a label who was interested in signing me for my album. I refused the deal and they had a new band release my album and they got famous. By ‘giving away’ your material for free, and then hoping its use is not abused, shows what a total sweetheart you are, naïve but still a sweetheart! The only thing I can think of is to reinforce the contract by having the files encrypted and a pin is needed - by requesting the pin the user is again warned/informed of the copyright issues and uses of etc as well as leaving a ‘paper’ trail. The other possibility is the files are of low quality and good enough for training and learning but not for release.

Going public about it like you did here is probably the best thing to do. Worst thing to happen is that the people who use your track don't do anything and so you have to do the signalement and all that yourself, but other that that, it's just good advertisement for your music and project file. As long as your work is protected with the STIM (I think that's the one in Sweden) or something equivalent, you good to go. Everything can be copied anyway, the project file distribution just make it easier to modify just a little and call it a new track, but no matter what you do, if it's good, at some point there's always someone somewhere who will try to copy or completly rip it off, whether it's to build a career (even locally) or to impress some friends. It's not fun when it's happen, but you can take it as a good ego boost, because that mean you are doing something someone wish they created, and it's not something everyone can brag about in their music carreer :)

Every sample pack, I remember back in the day was just a copy, of another sample pack zero G/ time & space being a classic example of people stealing other peoples work and getting away with it They are full of James Brown. Samples etc. Let’s not forget the Amen break 😂 The fact that you have put a restriction in place via your terms and conditions effectively resolve this problem for you legally Personally, I think it’s very cheeky and certainly not creative
@prestigious5s23
@prestigious5s23 55 минут бұрын
But that's why they are called sample packs. The zero g jungle warfare ones for instance would be filled with samples of jazz drums, pitched and sped up. They sounded awesome too and allowed for those original drums to be used in so many different ways. You can call it stealing buy some of the greatest tracks ever made, were made using samples. If it wasn't for samples we'd of never had the likes of the prodigy and so many other artists. Taking a four bar drum loop is hardly stealing really though, especially when as I said, it's pitched, sped up and chopped up, so that you create something unique. Even with terms and conditions, does anyone really have the money to go down that route, when you can be well sure those copied tracks probably only sold a couple of digital copies at most.

Creating educational content showcasing techniques of audio production with examples including audio segments and accompanying project files that can be free to use for artists seeking inspiration is one type of content that you could think about releasing as seed ideas where it can be openly used by others, including hosting mix/remix competitions helping to grow the musical soundscapes. If you're planning on releasing you're own copywrited content seeking that side of music industry including financial compensation and protections of you're work from other's theft then keep those sounds/project files/techniques private until releasing them with those protections and potential financial benefits. Keeping unofficial free to use content seperate from official releases could solve both problems.

"Appropriation is appreciation"... having said that, having your ideas being stolen is out of order so naming and shaming is the right thing to do. You can write to them and ask either to take the songs down from the platforms or alternatively, include your name in the song credits as long as you're fine with that compromise. You can also leave comments and the link to this video under those songs on Soundcloud or anywhere where it's possible to comment.

Just turn on YT content ID. If it would not work, ten write an e-mail to such an individual and ask how he want to solve this problem. I think 99% of these guys will take down their tracks or add you to and author, or just pay you some compensation. I'm pretty sure you can benefit from it and solve these problems peacefully. But if someone is rude and won't cooperate, then just take them to court, send a pre-trial summons, an official document. I think the summons alone will scare them enough that the problem will be solved and they will stop doing it for forever.

Forgive me if i misunderstood but if this is happening only with project files you've made accessible then my immediate solution is to halt that. In the meantime, making either your project files or access to you to learn the techniques instead of working within your files could be made extremely limited to folks who sign on to an additional agreement to use for educational purposes only and not for profit. Lastly, lawyer up as it's bound to happen. Any songs that pop off, claim their publishing and get paid everytime they get played. You did the work, why should they get the royalties? Taking a kick or a hatloop or things like that sure, but taking complete parts of a shared project file that has a license agreement that says you can't use it for what they used it for, then yeah... issue a takedown. That's pretty much all you can do. That, and hope that people stop doing this, but I recon that is a lost cause. Some humans simply don't have the decency to not do this type of things. And now it's just about a piece of music. Unfortunately, people are capable of much much worse. Contemplating if I will go to your workshop on the 17th in Amsterdam. Maybe I will.

This has been a problem forever. You would have every right to tell them to pull it down. But you can't waste all your energy looking for people who do this. That's why I think you should look at it different. In this case I think you should tell the label that it is a great song (even if it is good or bad) but you want to be in the credits. If you are you will be happy for them to keep the track up and if it would be a hit you want some share. That would spread you name, and let the group that enjoys the song be able to have it and probably humble the "artist". But the biggest win in this way is that you save a lots of frustration with this mindset. Because no matter how much frustration you waste on it there will always be a new song that is more or less inspired or ripped from you.

No lawyer works for pennies, if they have to pay 100% of total revenue from the track, it would not pay the lawyer services

Be proud that this is happening, because it means that if they copy you or steal from you, it's because you are a great artist.

Isn't the whole idea of this style of tutoring to enable people to sound just like something else already out there? Use this pack, use this technique, arrange it like that and so on... ponder around for a minute.

give me ONE artist that does not steel from another even when it is just a second or two , the more they steel the more they admit you are better and they don't have inspiration to create anything new, anyway hard to do these days bringing a New thing, 4 on the floor who started that 🙂 just saying ... if they only gave credit to the source they took it from would be a nice step in the good direction and shows RESPECT, yet that last part is among money seekers long gone ... ,

I can see your really upset, and its understandable. On the other hand, you are the original. You are succesful, you put yourself out there.. file a complaint or just let it go... you are the best original, they are not. You have infinity creativity, they have not. Trust in your infinity and let it go ❤ (let go of the anger, whatever action your going to take)

Sorry but stealing is not ok , i hope you take down those "tracks" , if they used your tracks like that they should ask your permission or if they dont want to do that , then they can use ur track , call it a remix and share it without monetization.

I think you don't have a case here, because of the generic character of this kind of music. We make music that is generic to a very high degree. That's the reason you are able to have a KZbin channel. This sort of things happen with exponentially increasing frequency until there is a general innovation in the whole genre. There's no situation here that is not part of the natural evolution of this kind of music. You make music trying to fit in a standard, it seems YOU need to realize that.

Move on. Music is disposable. Both versions are too forgettable to take this much time. Don't trust people with your stems.
