Thanks for explaining exactly what phrasing is. You explain how dynamics fit in with rhythm and timing in phrasing. Interpreting the melody by phrasing and imitating the human voice on your instrument are the artistic goals. Classical guitar teaches that. Somehow rock ignored some of this. That's my understanding of it anyway.
