Any hope of an update about how you're feeling about this tablet, five months later? I'm looking into a new setup and have been planning on getting an iPad Pro and pencil whenever the next build drops, but I'd also like a Wacom-like tablet. I've been put off off-brand alternatives, though, after a disastrous experience with the Yiynova MVP22U(V3).

Cheaper than a cintiq. I like the size, I don't really need a 27" drawing screen. The question that needed to be answered, is this as durable as a wacom cintiq. Wacom products can last for a decade(even longer).

All wacom products i had didn't lasted more than 2years even with all the possible care tbh xD the more pricy the model is, the more prompt to crash it is, because they want you to buy a new one in few years.

Viktor Artworks how come mine lasted 4years? Wtf do you mean.

The very first model of the Cintiq Companion 1, the first they ever released, I had it, they had to replace it 6times before offering me a 5years extra warranty instead of a refund. They blacklisted my email, and when a friend called for me, they told them bullshit saying i used a gmail.com email to reply to ( i recorded the whole writing and sending of the emails, clearly showing they lied ). When I tossed them the video, they finally gave me a refund, offering to keep the tablet i had ( the 7th one they sent ) and i plain refused to keep it. NOTE : it was the same issue on all model, AKA the powersupply jack becoming loose, they fixed it in the never Companion 1, 2 and now SurfacePro. It was a main problem in the very first units of the companion1 ( not the android, but the full PC version ). Now I do own the surfacepro, since 1week, and there's already some weakness in the buttons ( and believe me, i'm very soft with it ). Buttons keep getting stuck pressed, and sometimes the drivers crash and hovering the pen over cause auto-click on everything like if i would actually click ( restarting the device usually works ). I tried every wacom unit except the 20" and up xD. Ones with less issues were, ironically, the cheapest ones, and the easiest to get a good customer support with.

+Paul Roemer This can be linked to the size and resolution scale of the image vs. the power that your CPU offers. I've noticed it while using a machine with considerably less power than my main desktop, such as a cheap walmart laptop. Also taking into account driver conflict, as he said he didn't remove the Wacom drivers before hand, as well as any other programs open that could have been sucking up resources.

Good Review Brad. I am REALLY hunting for a cheaper alternative monitor tablet to use with my late 2009 iMac that is on par with the quality and performance of a Wacom tablet at a much more affordable price tag. This looks good, but I would like some larger, like either a 15.5 inch or 18-19 inch monitor tablet instead. Have you any recommendations among the cheaper monitor tablet makers that I could consider?

Good vid, I really have moved away from wacom and haven't regretted it. The prices are way too high, especially with the heated competition from dedicated tablets like Surface and Viao and what not. My friend got one of the larger yiynova tablet's and said it's wonderful, and it's FAR cheaper than the similarly sized wacom but said it seems to be nearly as good, just requires batteries in the pen.

@thebradcolbow7 жыл бұрын
Yes, this will work with both Windows 8 and 10. As far as working with Illustrator it works well. one thing that I do run into using Illustrator on any tablet is that the hit points are kind of small and it takes some time to get used to.

Hi, what PC have you hooked it to? @3:45 one can see a very bad lag, but I'm not sure what part of that lag is from the tablet and what part from the PC behind it (the latter can also introduce much of a lag, especially in some programs). I'm considering this as a mobile display for my new Skull Canyon NUC, which has great CPU and IrisPro580 iGPU, but since obviously it's no Quadro, FirePro (or dedicated GPU of any kind for that matter), I wonder if it would be a good match? Great review, quick and to the point!

Wacon 13HD actually has two serious problems: the lack of a proper stand (the weak plastic one it comes with is a joke) and more importantly, a very weak cord that will break easily if you move the tablet around, and is very expensive to replace (and may costs weeks of work time until replaced even if your warranty is still valid). So I would be really interested if D13 properly meets these two requirements as it'd make me recommend it not even primarily for the price, but for the build quality too. (While of course hopefully meeting the standards for pen sensitivitythe no.1 aspect of creating higher quality art.)

Hey Brad - I just got one today, I am loving the built quality and the very streamlined connectivity but in practice I am finding the device to be really imprecise. Now I haven't used a 13hd so maybe I have too high expectations... I can manage to calibrate my 21ux to use it without a cursor (through Lazynezumi), but with the d13 it has not been possible so far, as the stroke is quite unpredictable. I will run some more tests on it today but I would be curious to hear your thoughts on that. Thanks ! [edit] after further testing I also found out that once the driver is installed, it somehow affects some Windows settings ... In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, dragHeight and dragWith seem to get locked at 16 if the driver is installed - as opposed to my usual setting of 0 which makes cursor behavior much more fluid when moving windows/icons around the OS. Odd ...

could you clarify ? drawing tablets like Artisul D13 which are not an OS in itself but works as a secondary screen to draw on....in such tablets the type of lag we see at 3:47, is it because of the pc or laptop it's connected to? so if these tablets are connected to powerful PCs there should not be any lag. is it? or it has to do with the Artisul D13 itself because beyond certain capacity it cannot perform smooth even if the PC it's connected to is capable?

Besides the mentioned weight, how does the stylus compare to the apple pencil and surface pen?
@thebradcolbow8 жыл бұрын
+Phiniox Glade It's very comparable. It's very accurate, great pressure curve. So for the kind of work I do I don't see a ton of difference between the styluses. As far as feel the Surface Pro pen is the most different because it has a rubber tip on the end. It gives it a little more drag when drawing which I really like. I've heard some people say they hate that though. Guess it comes down to personal preference.

I bought it two weeks ago. Great build quality, but the lower rez screens causes issues with both of my portable computers I'm trying it on. Neither are touch screen or have old pen drivers, but do have a 1080 screen also hooked up. If I have the 1080 set as one of two screens with the D10 either as primamry or extended, then the pen in most apps is off by a wiiiiiiiddddeeee margin. Works fine on clicking icons in windows though. If I set both to duplicate, and they go to the same 1280X800 rez then the pen is fine, but now Clip Studio Pro is nearly worthless because the canvas is so small. Krita was okay at the lower rez. Gimp was not. Hope this helps. Honestly, I've decided to use my old SP2 with the same size (but wacom) screen and a bamboo pen.

what do you use for onscreen touch buttons on the surface pro?
@helloSanders8 жыл бұрын
The portion where you demonstrate the stylus @3:45 really stands out for me. Every pen display that allows you to write directly to it seems to exhibit that apparent lag/latency. The stroke is measurably behind the tip of the stylus. Similarly, I had the older Galaxy Note 2 phone, and sadly it and every demo unit I've tried of subsequent generations has the same stroke lag. Whereas when I use my intuos4, the movement of my stylus versus the cursor on screen is 1:1. Are there any drawing displays you've used that don't have that issue, surface, ipad, etc? Is it a software concern where it can be adjusted on units like this Artisul? I've seen/heard artists like yourself describe tablets like this one positively despite that latency. I appreciate any feedback and thank you for the review.

one minus, no eraser on the pen.. btw how's about the noise while drawing?
@thebradcolbow8 жыл бұрын
+Kiswono Prayogo Yes, I forgot to mention that in the video because I never use the back of the stylus for an eraser. The only noise is the sound of the pen on the tablet. And that's about as loud as anything else I've drawn on.

Is there a newer version?
@thebradcolbow6 жыл бұрын
Not yet, but this is over a year old so i wouldn't be surprised if they replace it soon.

3:44 BRO do you not see how rough and jagged the lineart is? and the lag is crazy! Why didn't you say anything about this??
@victorbillvyse8 жыл бұрын
Does it have a huge mess of cables and what is the connection type? eg hdmi
@kokizzu8 жыл бұрын
+victor bill only 2 cable for power (usb or power adapter) and hdmi
@thebradcolbow8 жыл бұрын
+victor bill Yep, there are 2 cables if you have a USB 3 port to provide the power. If you only have a USB 2 port then you need an extra cable thing to power it and that gets a little bulky.

Is this portable?
@thebradcolbow7 жыл бұрын
It needs to be connected to a Laptop or desktop computer.
@j0mm7 жыл бұрын
Brad Colbow I mean can it be carried once a week in a back pack
@awmemory55468 жыл бұрын
What ones are portable?? I want something I can use while in bed and feel like creating stuff spontaneously.
@thebradcolbow8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this one needs a computer to work. If you want to go portable then you're looking at an iPad Pro or a Surface Pro. Right now I'm reviewing an android tablet and should have some videos on that next week, it's a less expensive portable drawing option.
@awmemory55468 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. Where do you find is also the most useful place to purchase an Artisul? I seen some links on Amazon across Europe and Germany in particular, futhermore some at half the price. Are you aware of any places you can buy these easily?

The latency seems quite severe is it?
@thebradcolbow8 жыл бұрын
On my laptop it is. This is just a screen so the lag isn't part of the tablet.
