UPDATE: UC Logic contacted me to let me know that the D13 indeed _does_ have a glass screen. It's just covered with a semigloss screen guard that makes it seem like plastic. Good on them! Another update is that I tried Toon Boom and Anime Studio on this tablet and neither worked. This doesn't seem to be the device's fault, as those applications claim they specifically only support Wacom hardware. I find that kind of hard to believe, especially in the case of Anime Studio, since _Manga_ Studio, made by the same company, supports the D13 no problem. I never tested these apps on any of the other devices I've reviewed because I just started messing with them, so I'm gonna have to do more research. Nevertheless if you're an animator, I'd hold off on these until I can get clarification.

Have you looked into reviewing Monoprice's new 22 inch drawing tablet? This seems to be the best Cintiq alternative on the market so far for a variety of reasons. Would love to get my hands on it (it's on sale for $499 as I type this) but I can't of course (._.).

I was wondering and checked their site, it says Paint Tool Sai would be functional with this tablet. Have you tried using Sai on it? I have seen some comments on it not working as well as comments saying it works; and honestly i'm confused and concerned since Sai is the main program i'd be using if I purchased this. I'm still making my decision on choosing a tablet for my digital art and have been considering the Intuos Pro. However, my hand/eye coordination isn't exactly the best, therefore i'd prefer one that is similar to the Cintiq. I'm trying to stay away from the Cintiq mainly due to the price. Other reviews including yours have been all fairly positive about the D13. Would you recommend this as a good alternative over the Intuos Pro? Are there any huge differences between them that could possibly be a deal breaker? (Other than hand/eye coordination.) Hope to hear from you soon!

Wow this is amazing and I am seriously thinking about getting this because I really need a upgrade from my original bamboo wacom I got 15 years ago. I was thinking of getting the wacom cintiq companion 2 because I need a newer laptop from it has low ram and memory that it can't handle or compete with things on artist programs like it use to. I can't upgrade it to have bigger ram and memory unless I gut it which I don't want to do and if I do it would cost just as much as a new laptop. But if I got this, then get a laptop I want and not be forced to have whatever wacom gives me. That would be amazing! Thank you so much for this review it has helped me so much!

So this is just another display, right? It can't stand alone - it needs to be connected to a computer somehow? I'm currently searching for something more like a Cintiq Companion 2 alternative, because I want a drawing tablet that is stand-alone, which I can therefore shove in my bag WITHOUT my laptop, and pull out to draw on while sitting under a tree or something. Kind of like an iPad or SurfacePro, but not those two, because I'm not a fan of either. I'm assuming the Artisul D13 is not this kind of drawing tablet, correct? And if so, are there any drawing tablets that do rival the Cintiq Companion 2?

I've had this tablet for three months now. -I had trouble setting it up, but that's because I'm an idiot AND because the driver settings was well hidden in my computer. But once I got it working, it's been smooth. -The colour settings are a little annoying. I adjusted mine as best as possible to match with my phone, but saying that, my phone could be what is incorrect. -Mine does work with both versions of paint tool sai, clip studio paint, fire alpaca/medibang, and Krita. It does not work with my Photoshop cs6 but I havent got the legal copy.... So thats probably the issue. -I've had no problems with it getting too hot. -I only ever run it off my computer's battery as it didn't have an Australian plug. It's run perfectly fine, which still shocks me given how bad my computer is. -The dial is a god send. Seriously, I use it to change my brush size all the time. So helpful. -i used a wacom bamboo and an intuos for 5 years, both having an eraser on the end of the pen. I thought I'd miss the eraser but I don't. I also never used the tilt feature so that doesn't bother me. -the cursor offset isnt too off, and honestly, you get used to. Sometimes having the cursed and the pen being slightly apart is actually helpful. Coming from using desk, no screen, tablets, it doesn't bother me having to look at the cursor more than the one tip. Again, the difference isn't that big (more obvious on the sides, which isn't a problem since that's just for tools and such) -I bought it from artisul website which gave me the stand for free. The stand is AMAZING. If you do have to buy it separately, I highly suggest you do. -I highly recommend.

Hi, I have a few questions- I saw a trailer/add for one of these products. There were a few shots where someone is drawing and it seems to lag a little. Like the line is drawn just a tiny bit, although I feel like it would really get in the way of fluid drawing. And did u say if this came with drawing software? Also does it always need a laptop? Does it have to always be plugged in? I don't have a laptop but I'd love to use something like the cintiq companion, which can be taken out when traveling. I know you've probably answered a few but I wanted to be sure of some specifics, sorry >~
@RebelPixels9 жыл бұрын
+Reality Every drawing tablet, even Wacom, have a slight delay. In my experience it's never impeded drawing, and with this specific device the input lag is very minimal. As for being a standalone unit, this is not. It requires a host computer to function. There are some other devices that I'm hoping to look at in the future that are stand alone tablets. 5:43 You caught me xD
@groundononline9 жыл бұрын
Rebel Pixels ok, thanks. I have an old Wacom Intuos that I got when I was 13 or 14 years ago and it's a bit beaten up and I find it difficult to finish digital drawings because it's so disconnected from traditional work. Seems like this device would be a good start for a tablet with a screen? Does it have to be a computer? Guess just a battery pack wouldn't work :/ Does the laptop need to be good? I have a really bad school laptop which I never use, could something like that work? Is the drawing finished? I'd love to see it ^-^ On Deviantart..? Thank-you so much for replying! Loved your content for years! :)
@RebelPixels9 жыл бұрын
+Reality This device is just a display and a pen, so a battery wouldn't do much good. All the work is done on the host machine. You can use it on any PC with an HDMI port (or with an adapter if you have a different video port). As long as the computer you're using your Intuos on isn't giving you any problems, you should be fine with this as well. The drawing isn't complete yet. I've been sick so it's slowed down all my productivity. It's going to be a t-shirt design when all is said and done on my march shop, but I'll also be posting the image on my dA and Tumblr.

Hey Tommy! Awesome video. I've been looking around a lot trying to find something that is less expensive than a Cintiq but actually works, so this tablet might be the one I have to go for. I was looking at the Huion GT 185, but that seems like a mixed bag of "is it gonna work or not?" and I've heard there's no actual refund process. I think the only question I have is, and I know this might be a stretch, will it work with CS2 and CS3 products? Namely, CS2 Photoshop and CS3 Flash. I suppose I could easily upgrade to CC Flash but would like to save the money if possible. I've got cartoon ideas but no way to make them happen :/ Regardless, I feel like this one has the most potential to be my winner. I'll continue looking around to make certain, but I was so stoked to see a completely positive review on a Cintiq alternative. I just can't handle drawing on a Bamboo or Intuos. The disconnect was too much for me. Take it easy and a preemptive thanks for any help :D

Right now, I guess Artisul D13 doesn't have an edge anymore compared to Cintiq 13HD? Since in Amazon, Cintiq 13HD costs just about 800USD... Though in my country, it's still very worth it since there is no price drop at all for Cintiq 13HD... and the price difference between this two is almost 100% (Cintiq 13HD price is almost double of Artisul D13).

I'm wondering... Cintiq killer... It offers similar size and form factor and less features for similar price (Cintiq 13HD non-touch, atleast here in England sits 100pounds away from D13) - why picking it over Cintiq? I can understand other Chinese products as within similar price they offer bigger screens with similar AdobeRGB coverage but this one, despite being very solid product I just don't see much going for it in that particular battle other than resigning from battery-less pen (and eventual future upgrade options like art pen or air brush pen) to save 100quid. I mean if I got it for free, I'd keep it but if I had to spend the money I'd personally either went for bigger and/or better screen, battery-less pen or both. (granted, drop in Cintiq's price had it's source somewhere ;) ) Or I'd get it just to spite Wacom for their decades of market monopolization and locking digital painting away from poor people, I guess that works aswell.

+TheDriXx | Sims 4 House Designer | My general rule of thumb with these alternative pen displays is if you can afford a Wacom, get it. They're still the best option even overpriced, and they're a bigger brand so you'll get better post purchase support if you need it.

Does the cintiq 13hd have a better display? Is the lack of requiring a dedicated power adapter the only thing it has over Wacom? I'm interested in this, but I don't want to feel like I should've waited after using it
@RebelPixels9 жыл бұрын
+PipeBomb SD I'm actually not sure how the Cintiq's display stacks up against this. They're the same resolution and display type, but I'd assume the Cintiq has a higher color reproduction count due to its higher cost. I'll have to get back to you on that. The lack of the power adapter is the only real big benefit of this device over a Cintiq besides the price. I'd say with all of these devices if you can afford a Wacom you're probably better off. These are alternatives for people who can't swing that device. If you can save up the extra for the 13HD and don't need the portability this offers, the Cintiq is the safer choice.

It's responsive and durable but I rarely use it. I find my simple Wacom Intuos Pro is all I needed. If you use only drawing applications it's just fine...

So are you going to do a video on the Ugee 2150?
@RebelPixels9 жыл бұрын
If Ugee sends me one. I unfortunately don't make nearly enough money to just drop $600 on every tablet that comes out.

Ive been using the wacom intuos pen and touch for a little over 2 years now, I got that to do digital work, but Didnt use it much at first as I didnt draw as often back then. But Ive found myself drawing more and want to upgrade, and Im pretty set of getting a display tablet. This is the best review for one that Ive found, and its certainly a lot more than the $100 Intuos I have now, but I have the budget for this. Would you recommend this or is there another tablet that maybe I havent found yet that may be a better option for my situation?

+Jordan B this is personally my favorite pen display I've tested so far

Rebel Pixels Ive been researching almost all week and Im torn between the Artisul D13 and the Huion GT185. I know you didnt have a very good review on it, but other reviews make it seem not too bad; and Id be spending a little less money. It seems like the choice between a real good smaller display tablet vs a bigger screen display tablet with sub par capabilities.
@RebelPixels8 жыл бұрын
+Jordan B yeah it's gonna come down to preference at the end of the day.
@BoDiJyPz8 жыл бұрын
Rebel Pixels I went with the Artisul D13. On their site they offered the stand for free, so that made it so much more worth it. Plus its a huge improvement from what I have. Only time will tell if I made the right investment. Thanks for all of your reviews and insightful videos. Keep on making them, and like you said in one of your videos build an audience not subscribers. Im part of that audience. Thanks again!

Also, is there a place where I can look at your comic series "Sorceress Lost?" I hear you talk about it sometimes and I would love to see it.

+Has Many Wares I have some preview images and stuff up at SorceressLost.tumblr.com, but I'm still working on the first big chunk of it.

Nice, I saw the intro too it and thought it was awesome! Thats why I was wondering if there was some more stuff I could see haha. I'm working on 2 illustrated books right now. Hopefully the XP-Pen is a good machine.

+Rebel Pixels Also, on my channel i have some animations (they are really bad XD) made with paint.net and sony vegas. I wanted to get better and get into animation and wanted to get a good software but they are all to expensive for me, a 14 yr old with no job that just wants to try animation, so i researched and most people said that a tablet was necessary so i just brought an itnuos comic that comes with manga and anime studio. Do you think that is a good place to start? ive had some experience with flash and some other vector based programs so i should be fine with the software and the tablet seems just big enough for my first tablet :) if you could check out my animations, just give me some tips, it would be GREATLY appreciated :) k thx

does this work with paint tool sai?
@RebelPixels8 жыл бұрын
+TwistedFaith I personally don't use SAI so I haven't tried. I know it's compatible, but not right out of the box and takes a bit of extra work to get going. As for what that entails specifically I'm not sure.
