"The best advice I can give is not to take too much advice, deep down we all know what we want to do. Look at the work of the masters and learn, definitely learn but don't be too swayed by what other people tell you you should or shouldn't do"

Thank you, Thomas, for the memory of how good you are. I took a workshop from you in New Mexico a few years ago and I learned so much. Would love to see you do a you tube tutorial to help me refresh the skills you taught me.

Dios , que maravilla ! Acabo de enamorarme de tu pintura y envidiarte.SI ! Envidia ! Aquí ya no es tener una base de dibujo, aquí entra la sensibilidad y un DON que se puede o no llevar dentro.

Your artwork is so soulful. I've always drawn, not painted, and I'm really having a hard time learning to watercolor paint. It's such a different process. I'm still painting "backwards" , I'm still trying to draw with paint. Also, I can't afford watercolor paper, right now I'm using grocery bags that I've wet and crumpled up, then taped down to my coffee table. ( I don't have a kitchen table. I do have an easel, but I can't really use it. ) I'm mostly using watercolor and black watercolor pencils. Do you have any tips for me? I just started painting, as opposed to drawing, and this is the 1st time I've been able to use my art supplies in 5 years. ( Crappy spouse, he's gone, now.) I'll be happy to show you my pitiful attempts, so far. I think I'm still trying to draw with paint. So right now I'm doing tutorials on Chinese ink painting, and just trying to make those wet paper bags look like something.

I'm asking any and everyone, not just necessarily this particular artist. There is ZERO money for watercolor paper, and even if there was, I wouldn't waste my money spending it on paper if I can't get the process down.

@@heatheryoungblood1988 Just keep practicing and try to remember that art is supposed to be fun. It takes awhile to build up drawing and painting skills so don't get frustrated and stay patient. You will definitely see improvement eventually if you just stay patient and keep working at it. That's one of the many beautiful things about art. And of course KZbin is filled with talented artists who share their knowledge of how to paint, so keep watching tutorials and you're definitely going to learn a lot. Art can be a lot of fun if you just stay patient and stay focused. Good luck.

Heather. Go check watercolor misfit KZbin site. Carrie has a large number of instructional video covering important tips like water to paint ratio, types of papers to use plus layering your colors. I love her site.
