Exactly, though I feel that using authentic real-world sounds in their analog style, and without thousands of people doing anything similar, makes that sound stand out forever.

I often refer to Leonardo Dalessandri's "Searockers Croatia" film when I'm trying to figure out how to use SFX effectively. It's just a travel/holiday film, but there's such great use of sound design to sell the transitions, etc.

That was really helpful, especially the panning sound. I loved the sound on Bridge Of Spies. When you listen to how they created the sounds of old style flashguns firing in the extras of the film it was amazing. I would never have thought of using a woman scream for a pop of flash. The whole movie's awesome actually.

The sound design in I Am Legend was both terrifying and brilliant --- especially in the scene where Dr Neville goes after Sam when she runs into the creature infested building and get's trapped in there. Another film we can't fail to mention is Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. His wife, Christiane Kubrick, reportedly said that the breathing sound effect of the astronauts was Kubrick himself. The attention to detail in that film is absolutely spectacular.

I can sum up a lot of oldies like King Kong, The Birds, Star Wars, Apocalypse now, The Matrix and I can continue for hours. All these movies did exceptional new things with sounds. But the latest movie that did blow me away was actually a movie from not that long ago. It was the first time I did experience a Dolby Atmos movie that intense. I hear you thinking there he is presenting his Marvel superhero title. But none of these I would like to mention although their sound design is great without any discussion. The movie I do like to mention is Roma. The whole movie did give me goose bumps by listening to it while watching became a second priority. And especially the scene at the beach with the sound design being on top of the game. Just a dramatic sound of waves that does make you realize something will happen. Even the earlier mentioned Marvel movies will sound small after watching this movie, take my word on that.
