Some other snares you could try to achieve: 311 - Amber (Chad Sexton) Slipknot - Eyeless (Joey Jordison) Dave Matthews Band - Ants Marching (Carter Beauford) Lamb of God - Black Label (Chris Adler) Tool - Sober (Danny Carey) Deftones - My Own Summer (Abe Cunningham)

I love my snares super high and tight, too ( and I use multiple overlays like big fat snare drum if I want to drop tuning for a song ), but I like the shells deeper, 6.5 or 8 inch.

Ocdp for the most part. I do wonder what John is going to use since ocdp is 100% defunct and looks like Travis Barker is with DW now. Is he just going to continue using his ocdp stuff or will go with a different brand?

Much made of Nickelback being a bad band. It’s really ridiculous. All starting from some stupid social media post. The drum work is awesome as well as the snare sound.
@miserirken
@miserirken Жыл бұрын
i mean, people calling Nickelback a bad band, yet they're still successful at what they do up to this day. Yeah you can dislike them (heck, i do), but you can't just ignore the fact they know their target audience, and they appeal to their target audience damn right. And they're actually tallented at it too (unlike other successful "artists" that have no tallent and just got into their place via spoonfeeding bullshit... looking at you, Kid Rock).

John Otto always has a killer sound for Limp Bizkit. Always. Its just the right amount of snap, with a slight ring to it. Lars should've done the same thing, for his snare on St. Anger.

When I first started playing. I HATED the overtones of my Pearl Sensitone steel shell snare drum, I put moon-gel all over the head. As I got more experienced and picked up a Pearl Masters Custom 8 ply maple snare, I started to appreciate the time and place for each snare. As I started to tune my batter head tighter on my snares, I grew to love the overtones and ringing of the steel shell, especially when I played live and only had my kick mic’d.

The Slingerland Artist snare Neil used had re-rings inside it, had 8 lugs, and was made out of maple (I keep hearing either it was 3-ply or just a solid ply construction) but had the bearing edges on the snare side done by the previous owner to where the snares don't choke the head. And contrary to Neil using fiberglass or "vibra-fibing" for increased resonance with a clearer pitch on the inside of his drums, he never changed the interior of his snare as he didn't want to change to what already worked. It remained in use until Counterparts when he made the switch to DW by Test For Echo. The Artist snare was more of the middle road snare as the Radio King/Gene Krupa snare made at the time was the higher standard. I even noticed a set photo of Le Studio of Neil's late 70's Tama Superstar (made of birch, and they originally had re-rings on those models, don't bother finding these as they are extremely rare compared to the more common ones on the net where they're the 80's model that have no rings) and I've noticed the snare having a clear Ambassador head instead of the CS dot, though that was likely only for a promotional shoot since most music videos are just mimed to the original studio track rather than live (La Villa Strangiato and any official Hemispheres music video promos were completely live done on the stage, not done with the studio tracks). Nice attempt though!
