For open tones I prefer the Ambassador Coated and black suede, for shorter sustain I prefered the pinstripe clear, they have a good balance. I was very surprised about how dead the Powerstroke 4 sounded, huge contrast with the ambassador playing before. Thanks for saving us time and money AOD !

This is a great demo, and very helpful to anyone shopping for new heads Drumheads are very pricey and this kind of preview goes a long way into taking the guesswork out of choosing the *right* heads for someone’s needs, without wasting money on the wrong ones. To take this concept further, I’d love to see a demo comparing similarly-constructed heads from different manufacturers i.e. Remo clear Emperors with Evans clear G2 heads, Aquarian Response 2 clear, etc., at various tunings. Thanks for this!

This actually confirms I'm very happy with my current set-up: an Emperor Suede on the snaredrum (no white coating residue on the toms and cymbals but very similar sound, love the Suedes) amd clear Emperors on the toms. Can't go wrong there. Thanks for all the hard work!

Those black suede emps in medium and low were to die for! Also the regular emps clear and coated were fab as well. It shows that with good tuning you can achieve a dry, full sound and can control it from there if needs be

When I was using Remo I used coated Ambassador X over coated Ambassadors....amazing, rich, warm tone but still kept the character of each Tom!

This makes me wanna try a weird combo, like Renaissance emperors over top of Renaissance ambassador resonant side. Medium tuning so as not to kill the resonance, but the double Renaissance would provide a weird fuzzy diffusion of the sound, kinda pillowy yet defined attack.

I really love the ebony emperor suede heads! Powerstroke 4 coated for a really controlled sound and clear Pinstripes are timeless. I wanna love the Coated Vintage emperors but the Ebony suede are my favorite.

Man I'm really diggin' the Diplomat for its open tones; I'm thinking Diplomats are the way to go for recording. I'd throw on Smooth White or Ebony Ambassadors for all other occasions.

The flloor toms are growling really nice and the difference of the heads is more pronounced, but there is something with the rack toms. I don't know. It could be the mic placement maybe? I hear lots of attach but not much resonance. I am using good quality headphones.

It's physics. Floor toms will naturally have more warble because there is more head material at a lower tension
