Cara, sem desrespeitar vc e mt menos eles, mesmo que eu ou outras pessoas não consigam transpor a guarda deles, o problema não é esse. O jiu - jitsu foi criado como uma auto - defesa (n vou continuar pq já deve saber a história), e um estilo como esse visto na luta, faz com que o jiu-jitsu perca um pouco de sua essência. Não estou desvalorizando aqueles que gostam, mas talvez se o básico fosse bem aplicado, seria diferente. Não que eles não sejam bons no que fazem, só que isso é um estilo vicioso, sabe? Ficar muito só naquilo entende? É só um pouco da minha e da visão de muitos especialistas "old-schools" . Espero que entenda o que eu quis dizer e me desculpe se o ofendi em qualquer coisa. Abraço.

50/50 without the inverted heel hook is the most pointless position in Sport BJJ. Can you imagine how worthless securing the back would be if they made a rule that says you cannot attack the neck? they banned reaping right after they banned the heel hook, 50/50 should be no different, or atleast stand them up after 30 secs, either that or let them heel hook, i promise there would be much less stalling if people started worrying about their knees everytime that position is encountered.

All you people complaining about these sport jiu jitsu matches have a fundamental ignorance of true competition. When two people are closely matched, you aren't going to see a lot of submissions nor are you going to see big transitions leading to lots of points. It is a fight for inches, and in a double guard pull, this is what you see. Some call it stalling but that is fat-faced childish people who are watching with the purpose of entertainment instead of watching the best of the best at a specific ruleset where the entertainment comes from an understanding of the skill being shown, something that is USUALLY only obtainable by purple belt or higher practitioners in the sport (big generalization I know).

poop alover I'm actually not, Buchecha and Garcia are just that good. This isn't an opinionated situation I'm describing, it is the reality of competition. If two competitors aren't fighting for inches and one is dominating, that competitor is just that much better that day. Buchecha and Garcia dominate because they are that much better, plus it is far more rare to see a battle for inches at heavier weights, in all sports. The problem with your statement is mentioning someone's different styles. In a perfect world people wouldn't have certain styles because they would be amazing at everything, choosing the best technique per situation. There's not enough time in the world for someone to do that, so they have to adopt a style that they hope will suit their competitive goals.

It's the double guard pull game that makes you fight for inches due to the dynamics of style. That's what the style does especially when two are doing it. I'm not saying it is any less complex than any other game style. It's just boring to watch as it's much less dynamic due to Inch taking. As it also is in no gi. Garcia I was talking about gi. The fact he mainly now does no gi is irrelevant to this convo. Seeing as we're talking about gi. Size is also irrelevant as can well be seen with smaller guys games who do not specialise in the double guard pull game, and bigger guys who do do it, Garcia in a gi was a mere example, pick whoever you wish that doesn't always do double guard pulls and see. Bolo4D - wrong. There are plenty of examples of closely matched opponents putting in a good show in bjj. Go watch submission only grappling. The key is the rules, and the attitude of the fighters towards wanting to win under those particular rules. There's a reason someone like Kron hasn't won a "World Championship". It's not because he can't grapple. It's because he refuses to let the crappy points system dictate how he rolls. Neither of these guys want to take a risk, and you can hardly blame them. The problem isn't their closely matched skills (although that contributes), it's the cost of losing points by risking having their guard's passed, then having the opponent stall and win.

IN MY OPINION anyone who exposes weaknesses in BJJ or any art is successful. Delariva exposed the traditional lateral movement of the guard. It was used like a fighter throwing straight punches. Delariva basically came around like a hook. Jeff Monson exposed most BJJ guys weak north south game. These guys show the inability of most of their opponents to secure leg locks and toe holds. Leg locks are one of the most unanimously neglected things in most BJJ schools. That and takedowns. I honestly hate what most comps have become. I dont call stalling, guard jumping, butt scooting and holding "evolution."

50/50 guard. This is why we have "stalemates" in wrestling. At the very least, they should get rid of the back-to-back sweep scores. First to sweep in 50/50 gets points, period. Even then people would just use it to stall out a match. Really tired of seeing it.

The problem here is the rules. IMO the best tourny rules is the EBI rules. They encourage guard pulling, but because of the prevalence of heel hooks, nobody stays in 50/50 long, and because nobody gets penalized for guard pulling, you dont see BJJ guys pretending to be wrestlers or judokas

Maybe this kind of strategy can be discouraged by not awarding points for sweeps unless you sweep into a pass or submission. Think about it, if you go from playing guard to being in the other guy's guard then you've accomplished nothing and no points should be awarded. The rules favor guard pulling right now. People might be more willing to pass if they weren't being punished for it. Or allow heel hooks and reaping, then leg battles would be exciting to watch like in Eddie Cummings' fights.

I just couldn't get what Miyao was fishing for, with all due respect, first 3 minutes he got the laco guard and then moved to under hook leg but he immediately leaves them, then fight to get them again, then leave them. He fished for a foot lock later got switched to sweep by Mendes. Just that Miyao game was a mess.

O jiu foi criado como uma luta de autodefesa para que os monges pudessem reagir contra saques. o toquinho tem mtt mais o estilo natural do jiu que esses novos estilos de luta amarrada.. não acho errado a posição, mas ter um jogo voltado somente a um estilo, sem trocar quedas e fazer outras posições fazem o jiu perder a sua essência (característica principal).. não é excesso de técnica que eles tem e sim um jogo viciado. nunca este estilo de luta ganharia o pride e ganharia a notoriedade que ganhou.

só eu gosto de ver os myaos perderem ? a luta deles eh smp a msm coisa,só puxa p guarda e fica agarrando o jogo, smp luta sem graça, maior satisfaçao ver eles perderem. n eh inveja, n me interesso e nem pretendo lutar mundial. assistir lutas dos myaos sao smp a msm coisa. em contrapartida os mendes tem o jiu jitsu mais lindo de se ver, uma vdd ARTE marcial.

Acho quer os Myaus tem que ser banidos do esporte, pois estao transformando uma arte tao linda como o JJ em uma coisa horrorosa, podem ate ser campeoes, mas nao pagaria 1 real para ver uma luta de nenhum deles.
