I've been struggling with my verbal fluency for the past three years and I'm so glad to have finally found a name for the block that sits between the words in my head and their ability to come out of my mouth. I am so glad I found this channel.

Ive also been struggling for the past three years. I just came across this today and I feel like putting a name to it and knowing that others struggle as well helps me move forward. How have you improved since?

I've been struggling with my verbal fluency for years and I always felt that there must be something wrong with me because it's not like I don't know what words to use, it's just my mouth can't access them when I need them.

I am a 27 year old male & scored 45. To give you a little bit of insight into why I was so surprised by this, I have had 4 diagnosed concussions & have been told by neurologists, my doctor, and head trauma experts that it’s likely I suffer from “post concussion syndrome” as a result of competing in combat sports @ a high level from around 10 yrs old to 22. I suffer from brain fog, severe headaches, chronic pain, bouts of anger, insomnia, depression, and all the other fun stuff that comes with having head trauma. I’ve always been anxiously concerned and extremely upset about the brain fog that my problems cause me at such a young age.. As well as the common pain/fatigue that comes along with it when engaging in anything cognitive… So I was very surprised to see that I scored 45 on my first test. I listened back to see if I made a mistake. Unfortunately I have not completed the other tests as of writing this because of the straining effects cognitive tasks have on my body. I really enjoyed your video. Thank you so much for sharing. And this comment section is a brilliant idea by friend!

I'm a 19-year-old female, and also autistic. I got 16 on the first one and 14,5 on the second one. my verbal ability is limited but funnily enough, my other language related skills are well above average. I struggle to get words out/find the right words to use and use them in a meaningful manner. my verbal communication is not always reliable so I use other methods too. my cognitive profile is quite uneven in general, I have deficits in motor planning but do very well in visual logic for example. I have done neuropsychological testing multiple times so this wasn't really new to me

I know that this was posted three years ago, but I feel compelled to express that I can relate to this. Ever since I became afflicted with clinical depression, it has become hard to think-and I mean think _at all._ This has hugely influenced how quickly and efficiently I can retrieve words from my mental lexicon. At times, it can be exhaustingly frustrating.

Results: Female, 33, T1: 35.5, T2: 33 -- I struggled with "A" words the most -- Drove tonight to pick up Milo and I practiced doing "B" words for most of the drive

I did it writing, not speaking, but got 33, 34, then 31, 24 (for A) and 31. I'm under 50, male, and a few years ago had migraines with stroke-like symptoms that meant, among other things, that I could not remember ordinary words, and was speaking words or parts of words into normal sentence structure and rhythm, but without meaning, and it scared me so much that I started learning languages. I can talk confidently, but when tired and distracted, sometimes lose track of what I'm saying mid-sentence, and kind of freeze. I also find it really hard to take in details- especially numbers. I think I have remembered a time, but I find out I remembered it wrongly- even written it down wrongly. I think a lot is about focus and concentration. I came out with some weird stuff, though, that was interesting- e.g. I remembered a toy ambulance from when I was a kid that I haven't thought of for 30+ years- with Ambulance written on it- maybe it was written backwards or something that made me notice it, and words that were answers to crosswords and stuff I would never use, like "arpeggio", whatever one of those is. I bet that if you thought of the different sounds A makes, that would help, like the a in cat, can, have, the long a in father or car or after, the ay as in day or gate or pain, the au, as in autumn or caught, etc. If you had sh as well as s, that would have helped with the s, and thought of sc, sl, sp, scr, spl, etc, that would have helped.

For the first exercise (Animals), I scored 21 in 30 seconds and then I completely blacked out for the next 30 seconds. The feeling I had in those 30 seconds was so similar to when I blank out during conversations (which happens often). Does this indicate anything?

Female 29yo. First test= 20. I noticed how my brain is all over the place, jumping from category to category, no strategy at all. And I was following the timer on the video and the beeps mid-minute threw me off completely. Second test= 14. This time, I tried looking around the room for objects that start with the letter. It didn't help.

m/46 #1: 24.5 #2: 22 I felt like I was cheating on the second test when I sought out base words and simply started attaching various endings (eg. 'er', 's', 'ing', 'ly' etc etc) and counting each one. So I started over. On the second attempt I lost count as I'm not recording right now. Starting over. By the third attempt I was mentally destroyed and couldn't remember whether or not I used a word now or was remembering one of my previous failed attempts. Thanks for requesting these comments. It makes me feel normal.

If you practice regularly you'll be fine. The second thing is practice to be ok with stress. Find out what you are capable of, doing it with total comfort. Let's say you get "10". Set a goal of double (20) and see if that goal stresses you, see if you can improve how you handle this stress. The goal is to know you wont meet the goal, but still not letting it effect you. Try using an app where you press for every word and that has a times as well.

I did not know if I did the test correctly but this is how I did it.... I did F 3times, A 2times and S once. And I did not count any repeats or pronouns. But with the repeats I did not include any that may have repeated in any of the separate recordings ie if I said Fix in audio 1 and audio 2 then that only counts as one........ Therefore my test result was 37, age 34 and Male.

My main language is not English but im getting waaay more scores when I'm doing test in English. Really weird. Do I have to practice on my language or it's all about freeing mind ? In daily life actually i m using English too much my, lessons, studyings, hobies. When I'm alone in a day I don't even use my main language. Does it effects my main language speaking badly ?

I have no proof but by the time I see that focusing a language more than yours, it affects badly. Especially their grammars family different. for example in tr, kardeşimle konuşuyorum, in eng, I am talking with my bro. O V S // S V O. the ways we think are different. When I try to speak turkish I explain the results before topic and it breaks influencity in tr. and Im confusing by doing it. However, the good thing to have the ability seeing a situation in another view. It really gives me lots of things.

It depends on whether you can only use individual foods, or you can also use foods that have been combined such as sausage roll, bread or chicken curry. I did just individual foods. Also, for the letters I didn't realise you couldn't use pronouns until the end so I wasted time on that thinking of names. I also wasn't sure if plurals were allowed. Every word i thought of i then said the plural too.
