Great video! I was wondering if you would be willing to do a 'build along' type of video. One where you show the full process, from taking body measurements, designing your pieces, through construction of the piece? This would allow you to share tips and tricks to those just starting.

Thanks for the response! I'm probably leaning towards the segmented design you show in detail around 06:20. I've got various scraps of Veg Tan as well as my chrome, so as long as I've got pieces big enough to create the segments, I'll probably do something along those lines. We don't spar at full speed or get overly aggressive with one another, but at the same time, My training weapon doesn't have a proper cross guard either, so a bit of added protection will go a LONG way! Out of curiosity, how do you handle measuring and patterning for helms and other head wear? I find the shape of the skull to be awkward to navigate and pattern for. Thanks again, and keep it up!

Will you be doing a video on how to do fingered gauntlets?

Holy crap! Fast response to turbo! Thats top notch. Just earned a subscribe from me. Any patterns/ideas for a 100% newbie? I have no tools and no material. Could you give me an idea for a project that might not cost me alot of investment to try? Id like to see if this is a hobby I'd enjoy doing in my free time.

Forgot to add. I dont mind buying a few tools. If you can think of something thay would require a few techniques and few tools, that'd be awesome. Just dont make me buy out a hardware store lol.

+Sean Vance I bought some hole punches, stitching forks, waxed thread, leather (more blunt) needles and a basic riveting kit on amazon relatively cheaply. Most of the stuff is kind of ugly and shipped from china, but for the price it's ok to learn on without blowing a fat stack of cash on expensive tools when you're just getting started. My wife bought me some monsterous Fiskars shears for heavy fabrics at the local craft store. A nice sharp craft knife with replaceable blades would be good to have, an X-Acto for super fine cutting, and a utility knife are also good places to start without blowing the budget. Go raid the kitchen for an old cutting board you can re purpose, and find yourself a nice metal ruler for straight cuts!

+Sean Vance Yes, as turbomonkey says there are some great deals on amazon so you don't have to break the bank. Go to theartofwarriors.blogspot.com for a list of starter tools and materials. If you haven't watched my first video, you should probably give it a watch here kzbin.info/www/bejne/qV6qdGqlbZtnjrc

What do you recommend for a xxxl person? like design recommendations. I'm charged with making some leather armor for a mate and the guy is a tank. loving these videos, thanks.

Hey, thanks for subbing. It would be good to get all the measurements of the body parts that will be armored to give you an idea of of how big to make the patterns. Also, if your mate is available when you make the patterns you can check the size right on the specific body parts. I hope this helps.

+Art Of Warriors thanks. It's for a Larping mate. I'm thinking of doing the articulated one like you showed. I got a shirt off of him to help me do some patterns. I think i need to watch some tailors doing the measuring.. my first measurements we're off by a long shot. you videos are the best i've found on this subject, you've been really informative and I hope you'll do more. thanks again.

Question. When I tried making a fingered gauntlet with that type of glove it tore itself apart where I made the river holes in the fingers. How do I get around that?
