Insane multiasking and speed by YSC. THis might look like "me protoss ape, me storm tanks", but it's actually incredibly hard to do all this while taking half the map, macroing out units at a base that is being siege and clearning minefields.

Good game overall. YSC has good macro, ok micro and perfect strategic thinking. At the same time, his army movement and feeling of the map's space is not up to the level. I believe that's the biggest difference between him and top-level Protoss players like Snow. YSC just moves around the map with little to no feel of the surroundings. Sometimes it's not a big deal - then again sometimes he has to engage from a very bad angle. Like when he lost his 6 o'clock base - half his army stumbled behind a big wall and was just taking shots from high ground. Whereas he coule easily maneuver them around and get into the fight from the back, just crushing the terran army. But that would require a pre-emprive thinking and more precise army-on-the-march control. Kind of reminds me of my own PvT games. No matter how good your macro, micro or strategy is - if you engage from a bad angle, you just cannot do anything about it afterwards. And most of the time in PvT when an engagement have started - you're pretty much obligated to proceed. As trying to retreat will just end up in army losses with zero gain.

@artosis (or anyone knowledgeable) I’ve always heard in casts pros cross scout first because you do a different build depending on whether they are cross or close. Is there any particular reason he scouted top left first in this game?

Anyone have any tips on how to learn brood war? I've never played an RTS in my life, I've never played a game with such difficult controls period. Any tips? I'd like to learn Terran as bold as that may be.

Try to beat the computer once you win every game, go take one of the build order for one base like SoSO 2 fact 1 base and play it everygame adjust depending on race... Goliaths vs Zerg, vultures and tank vs Protoss, Tank vs Terran,etc. Try out different units combination and ratio. You can also do it vs the computer from the start, probably better for consistency, though Computer plays strange, very different from human.

I think he might have lost without that play. No vessel up top to EMP it nor any wraiths, turrets alone do not stop arbiters almost ever. Soso did crush the speed shuttles with his turret setup though.

Hot take: Terrain's winrate would increase >5% if they'd properly target fire their tanks in big battles. So often you'll see 10 tanks wasting two volleys of 750+ damage on killing 5 single Zealots instead of the 15 clumped up Dragoons in the back that are in range.

He showed how it's done with siege tanks, you gotta micro them sometimes and target the enemy casters vs protoss and zerg. When you kill 3 or 4 full energy HTs or a defiler that's about to cast dark swarm that's a game winning move. Around 24:25 he nails the HTs and ruins YSC's ability to kill his tanks.

YSC has looked excellent in a fair number of games, some KCM performances where he played really solid PvT and then destroyed Queen in PvZ were also rly good. Let's hope for Protoss
