Playing TvP Taking Coaching From Scan!

For those wondering about Scan's final TvP tips/common mistakes: 1. Sieging all tanks in battles all at once (like marine stim in TvZ) - they all target the same protoss units like that. In TvP you are supposed to siege a few siege tanks at a time, to not have them all shoot at the same time. 2. Trying to hotkey vultures/tanks/goliaths on seperate hotkeys. It's not efficient / takes too much time.

The hotkey thing has gotten me in trouble a lot cause reinforcing your main army is too important to waste time proper grouping.

Hug the wall when pushing out, take the marines from the bunket, don't siege all at once, make the cc in your base when you have the excess mineral, send a few vultures on raids, scan the natural expo for army size. Such great advice!

Biggest difference I see in this game compared to when he's played this exact position before is that he builds the CC immediately after taking the third and was way more active on the map harassing with the vultures. Usually he gets the third, doesnt plan for the fourth, then just sits there waiting for something to happen. He's also generally way slower with building the CCs. Also he should have taken Scan's advice and gone in for the natural as soon as he won that second major engagement at the third, but he said "fuck off i'm repairing my tanks". You can repair after you move your vultures you know? That's another thing point out to him often is that he is too passive and doesn't press his advantage.

Good TvZers are used to microing groups of individual marines, stimming and using medics - this doesn't translate to TvP where they siege all of their tanks together with one hotkey, reducing army effectiveness and making the engagements bad. So what scan suggested is that you can apply the same TvZ skillet in TvP by individually sieging groups of tanks by box selecting 1-2 at a time after getting them to the right position. This is what I understood

@@kunparekh1838 Exactly if you go to 18:46 you will see Artosis sieges all tanks like 12 tanks for 8 dragoons..he only needed to siege one or two and he would have pushed, even without sieging any the damage is so high he would have lost max 2 ... but could have secured a better position. Technically he panics and overkills when it's not needed.

Artosis is definitely a better Terran than I am despite both of us being A rank, but I would still would like it if he would just follow Scan’s advice more directly instead of saying stuff like I wouldn’t do it if even told me to do it. The entire part of being coached is to do as you’re told by a more experienced and better player and get feedback on your play.

A bit yes, a bit no... You cant just change the way you play on the fly, if you do you just auto lose, because your whole games doesnt make sense. So when scan says early enginnering bay, the idea must sink in first. Like you wouldnt have lost that tank, etc. and if he does build enginnering bay early, the minerals will disappear from somewhere else... It is radical, smaller changes like building CC 3rd earlier are more easy to take in. The coeach gives you ideas, points of mistakes, areas where you can improve, there is no sense into making you a copy of his play, more even on this level where Artosis already has his own styl...

If I’m gonna coach a C-B rank Terran and I tell him to do things a certain way and he just tells me well I wouldn’t do it even if person X told me to do it either, Then there is no point in having a coach if you aren’t going to take their advice. Scan isn’t breeding Artosis to become a carbon copy of him, but rather is trying to give him pointers(despite not being very good at explaining in a more detailed sense as to why) to help improve his overall playstyle. If you are afraid of losing ladder points and losing a match or two because you are being coached to play a different style then you are used to, then you shouldn’t bother getting a coach in the first place. The whole point is to take pointers and do as the coach says so you can later assess and decide on what you need to take into your gameplay from the coaching and so.
