Hi Jay in Pakistan! I cannot tell you how much this message means to me, and your timing could not be better. Knowing what I'm creating is helping students and educators like yourself outside of the US is priceless. As we keep hunting for more financial support, feedback like this not only helps us with grants, but it also keeps me and my team motivated! Please keep inspiring the next generation, and thank you for being an educator! If you and your class ever want to chat art and creativity via Zoom or Google hangout, let me know! Hopefully one day we will make it to Pakistan to film. That would be amazing!

He was a good friend of my great, great uncle Carl Bodmer and he copied 3 of his masterpieces. He named one after him. The Bodmer Oak. It was finished in Fontainebleau. Carl and I have lots in common concerning world travel and family artistry. Edit....,What else do you want to know about Claud? I'll soon be making more videos in critique of my own work in process.

I would like to point out that the artist's name is more correctly pronounced Mon-A rather than Moe-Nay. If we speak the name using French pronunciation rules, we don't say Monette, do we? So, the first syllable should also be pronounced in the French manner. MON should sound like " Mon Ami " Mohn-A

Very true. The never ending debate over how we should pronounce names in art. Honestly, I've been working on an episode about this very thing! In my humble opinion, I really don't think it matters that much. While traveling I hear different cultures take English words and simply butcher the "native" pronunciation. However, I have no problem with, for example, how the French pronounce e-mail with a French accent. In the same way, I have no problem with an English speaker using an English accent to pronounce Van Gogh, for example. At the end of the day, my goal is to get people discussing and experiencing these artists and their work. Either way, I know I could have used the French pronunciation for Monet, so yes, you are correct! I let Chloé do it since she is a native French speaker.

This was very superficial and did not explain anything.

Well, it definitely did something instead of nothing. I tried to keep this incredibly brief despite my own desire to make it 30 minutes of in-depth knowledge. The goal is to give a quick overview of his life and work. This is in no way supposed to be a documentary. Either way, thanks for watching!
