Good tutorial, I highly recommend studying some Color theory! Get a color wheel, you can practice color mixing with cheap craft paints to learn how colors mix, ratios and colors that look good together. Use bright red, bright yellow and bright blue, black and. white. You can mix nearly any color you want from those 3 primaries. There’s a lot to color theory, well worth studying, experimenting and learning as much as you can. Thanks for the videos!!

I’m very new to tattooing, starting from nothing really, but I’ve been painting in oils and I used to mix colours with the brush on the go like you on this video tutorial… I kind of wanted to mix the ink as I’ve mixed the oils ~ but I was told off doing so, I couldn’t get it WHY NOT? Your tutorial put a smile back to my face ~ you’ve proven I’m alright ❤

Mixing a small touch of its complement (whatever is on the other side of the color wheel) will nicely darken a color also. I ended up restocking on an extra round of gloves, dental bibs, disinfectant, and all that other sanitary good stuff and it ate into my new tattoo ink funds so I'm working with limited color options at the moment. I literally don't have any dark colors rn and that's been my go-to

When you’re actually tattooing, is it safe to test and wipe off the needles on a paper towel before entering the skin?? It doesn’t affect or barb the needle or anything by touching it to the paper towel first?
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
No it really doesn't effect it to much as long as your cautious about it, Dont go running the tips all over the towel or what not. Once the tube touches the towel the ink will spill out, so at times you dont even have to touch the needles to the towel when checking your colors on a towel just touch the tube. Before and during a tattoo I will stop and take a close look at the the needles and ensure I dont have any defects. 99% of the time the needles are still in perfect order. Thanks for the question Tayy and thanks for watching!! 🤘🤘

If the needle picks up some A&D cream will this effect the way the colors mix in the tube or clog up the needles ? also i put a lot of yellow ink in a tattoo and because of the blood it looked orange and the white pink is there a way to stop this happening so much 😊👍
@yahned4 жыл бұрын
try doing the yellow/white second to last if you can 🙌🏼 since the other colors like red aren’t effected as much by the redish color of the irritated skin, you can do them last if you want, giving the brightest colors time to stop bleeding & show their true colors by the end of the tattoo! helps ease my mind sometimes, hope this helps

I've watched all your vids, but I have a few questions since I am using a coil machine. Is it necessary to use a shading solution? Is it only needed when you mix colours in the tube? Is your technique with ink specific to the pen style machines? I haven't been able to find info online about whether it is a necessary component for tattooing. Thank you and looking forward to your upcoming tips!
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын

Can you mix ink together directly? Say a drop of white with some red in the same cap to make pink, or is it better to mix with two separate caps and dip as you go?

thanks for the video , very helpful! What is your opinion on creating your own colors in the cap (example: making my own pink with red and white ) vs buying a bottle of the specific color you want ? I feel like there is so many colors in the industry and so many brands right now that is kinda difficult to choose. I like the idea of creating the colors myself in the moment and also because it helps when the budget is limited. A bit more time consuming but the pocket thanks me.

@tronjon234 жыл бұрын
Hey, loving all your videos. I am interested how you apply the color though, more specifically how to blend colors into each other. For example, how would I take a basic red and blend it into yellow or blue etc. I did watch an earlier video you did on tattooing a sunflower which incorporated some of that but I would love more information about how to do color transitions/gradients.
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tronjon! I dont have a vid about that right now but I will certainly see about making a vid like that in the next few weeks. 👍👍🤘
@Yosoydom2 жыл бұрын
From what I’ve learned so far you have to create those in between tones. So if you want to blend red into yellow you need to have or create an orange color and use that as your mid tone. I’ve been told it’s more like painting with watercolor in a sense of it can get muddied up really quickly if you try to mix colors without adding in the mid tones

I agree that white is hard to make hold and be visible in the skin. However I don't agree that mixing white with a color is a bad thing. I do it all the time and If done correctly and without making the color to light it works great. Like I say in a lot of my videos "this is just how I do things" all artist may have there own way of doing things and that perfectly fine. I would say since your in an apprenticeship listen to what your mentor is telling you and teaching you. Thats awesome John, happy to hear another artist doing it the same way. I feel a bit more free when I mix my colors on the fly and that usually leads to better results for me. Thanks again John I appreciate you watching brother!! 🤘🤘

I’m getting a tattoo today, gonna see what brown they can do for me. Cause I’m wanting a light brown so hopefully if I ask they’ll be able to mix white and brown they already have🤭😅
