Yes, it will work. You can adjust the burning power or burning time by the angle of inclination. Thanks for the video.

I love the idea of a 14 hour fire! There doesn't seem to be much wind where you are. I don't think this method of fire would be safe in windy conditions. Do you? I love how well you take care of your dog. He's adorable. Best of Luck to You!

interesting concept, however I prefer the longwall overnight fire as perfected by Lars in Survival Russia. I am concerned about one of the long pieces falling into your sleeping area, whereas with the longwall fire, that is impossible.

It looks like a fun build, sure. But as a guy who lives in forested areas very much in this video, this type of fire-build is just not practical. It's a lot of additional effort for no real gain. No offense intended. Nice images though.

I'm sorry but with all due respect, in a survival situation, it's the waste of valuable resources such as firewood that's going to kill you. You wasted so much energy in the process, both your own energy and the massive thermal energy that was given off. This is an example of how not to survive. Survival situations require that one be as efficient as possible with any and all of your resources, be it food, firewood, or whatever.

@vangmountain
@vangmountain 9 ай бұрын
@@carpingwithcarson You can be surrounded by all the firewood in the world but without energy, that firewood is not getting on that fire. Energy is needed to gather the wood. Expending energy without a means to replenish it and all you will be doing is looking at what could be firewood, not actual firewood. That is why conservation of energy is so so important in survival situations! You don't expend more than you need. I'm not saying this is 100% a total waste. I'm just saying if fire was your only source of heat then so be it, but it must not be wasteful. In other words, conserve energy at all cost.

It's obvious this was done for views. This would be cool in a non-life ending situation. Like maybe in the backyard for a bonfire scenario
@vangmountain
@vangmountain 9 ай бұрын
@@danielwhitley6696 Yes, that I 100% agree with you. I was just pointing out that people should not be out there thinking, "hey, in a survival situation, this is all I need to do," because gathering firewood is a laborious and energy consuming thing to do. Physics tells us in order to move a mass from point a to point b, we must do work on it and doing work requires energy. Without it, no work can be done. Without work, there will be no fire. Without a fire, or other means of warm in these kinds of conditions, your chances of survival are nil. Cheers.

Ah, the "self-feeding fire". The perpetual motion machine of bushcraft. It doesn't exist, but that doesn't stop enthusiasts wasting hours, days... years attempting to prove that it does 😂 At least it keeps you busy, I guess.
