Will you both be spending time at this dugout cabin this summer? Will it be cooler in the dugout since it is underground? I would think it would be and you'd be away from mosquitoes as a bonus?

My Brother was homeless and living in a plastic tarp tepee. I knew that wasn't a very comfortable shelter, So I built a bunker for all of us brothers and friends. It worked out great until the owner of the woods tore down the forest to make houses, in process tearing down the bunker. Making the bunker was the best thing I ever done. It was my Pride and Joy.

One of my favorite builds of the last fall/winter season we just had. You guys did a fantastic job. You both should be proud. Now keep away from those moose during their rut and be careful of bears you two lol.

Certain aspects of the construction can be shortened the viewer does not to see all the steps, he can imagine all the steps. That applies to cooking too. Good job though.

Great work and as always. A super video! I would love to spend a night in a dugout cabin. I may just try it this summer and build one. I believe that when you are finished with the landscaping, people could walk by your dugout cabin and not even notice it.

If you add a white or reflective coating to the underside of the skylight door, and then make a way to prop it up, you should get more light in the dugout in the late afternoon

I keep questioning your entry design. Why a side hinged door and not a top hinged hatch? Like from a hatchback car. It would be load bearing and prevent rain from getting in and collecting.

If you to are going to hide in that underground shelter when things go bad and you have it stocked with a year or more supply of food you better do something about your stove because you are sending up a smoke signal that says HERE I AM! A enclosed rocket stove is more efficient and has little to no smoke! Just a thought.

only fallen trees can and cannot be built according to the law, but in fact it is possible, in Russia there are very cruel laws, which are balanced by the optionality of their implementation. in the backcountry no one cares what you do. the taiga has its own laws, and the bear prosecutor.
